This poor TEAC A-7300 is a great example of someone forgetting it and leaving in a garage. Dusty dirty and gross and a capstan motor not turning. Working on that too. Done so far, feet cleaned by the way soap and water unless otherwise. Knobs, Steel Cabinetry. Tape heads cleaned and demagetized, Pinch roller rejuvenated. Tape path cleaned. Faceplate cleaned and function controls as well. NAB Hub adapters cleaned. Much more to come. Pending complete clean inside and all contacts and switches and pots to be cleaned.Recap.

Progress video on the TEAC A-7300. Sorry about the messy room, my bedroom is undergoing renovation, so guess where the junk goes.

Perhaps the motivating force for me to finish my Tandberg replacement.…..Given to me by an old buddy….I don’t think it needs much. I won’t go as far as you if it works well enough….just dying to plow through my well preserved box of 7 1/2 reels like old movies and step back to a time before the world collectively lost its mind!

Thank you. So much to do. Worried about that capstan motor. Have to see how that goes. Recap is almost certain. I am sure there are a few with ESR and out of spec issues. This is a keeper for me since wanting on about 47 years ago.

Capstan motor lives again. End play was too tight binding the motor up.

There is way more to this. Recap looks for sure anyway in order but sooner than I thought.

More progress. Man this thing sounds good. Smokes my X series and rivals my Otari MX-5050b mk.2. Not even close to being done. But so encouraging.

Okay this is where we are. The Garage life was only the first of the major damage this machine got. The capstan motor bearings are as such you cannot run this in the vertical position, but horizontal it is just fine. I bought a roll away table for it so I can move this 62 pound beast. Also rack mount a dbx noise reduction unit and more. So it isn't all bad news. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/5680/post-latest-purchase?page=751&scrollTo=1100114 to see what I ordered.

Well always more to the story. I mostly have been posting here on the Emotiva Proboards forums. These few days have run me down allot, just not feeling very well. The stress of the 7300 not being right didn't help. That is a me thing. Staying mostly off the air today to get some much needed rest. The 7300 looks great preamps are great. Transport with the DC direct drive is not looking good. For a near 50 year old machine, after my clean you would swear nobody left it in a garage to die, I can only do so much. Recapping is possible but till I get more, this is some fine museum look at it piece. My X7 TEAC still serves Yeoman's duty, heck even has the remote for it. On my YouTube channel for more. I ended up getting this 7300 for free. Complicated that detail. When I have the energy. More on that soon. Take care all.

Can’t keep lifting 62 pounds of machine all the time. This rack helps here very much.

Power Supply is next! Finished the DC Servo board. It is a mix of Nichicon and other caps. Getting parts like passive discrete parts is not easy. Chip shortage isn’t the only thing.

This is only a test. Ordered the wrong caps for most of the power supply. DOH!! But reassembled and testing anyway. Stairway to Heaven does not sound like Foster Brooks singing it. We’ll see how it goes.
