Update complete:
The Good: * HOLY COW CEC INPUT SWITCHING ACTUALLY WORKS - meaning that I can press a button on my PS5 controller and the processor will switch to the PS5, then I can press a button on the AppleTV remove and the processor will switch back to the AppleTV. It also doesn't try to switch inputs every time I hit a button on the Apple remote. Bravo!
The Bad: * I tried 3 different USB 3.0 sticks for the update and none of them worked. I had to find an old USB 2.0 stick. * I have the "updating fonts" message on every cold start.
The Ugly: * CEC volume control from the AppleTV only works immediately after doing a processor cold reboot. Once I sleep/wake the system, the AppleTV won't send CEC volume anymore and defaults to "TV via IR". I'm forced to go back to controller the processor via IR. * After input switching (at least CEC input switching) I get the main HDMI switch dropout (which is still kind of slow) and about 15 seconds later I get a second dropout. This makes switching sources like a 30 second ordeal.
Overall, a very welcome update, and I'm looking forward to additional HDMI improvements.
FYI my setup is basically a PS5 & AppleTV (newest model) > RMC-1L > Samsung QN90A (2021) TV
Update: CEC volume is working again, for now. It seems to come and go as it pleases.

Updated my XMC-2 to latest 3.1 firmware. all seemed good until I changed to a Music channel on Xfinity X1 box, video played but no audio. Worked fine before update. If I stay on the music channel and turn Off/On audio works until you change to a movie channel then back to the music channel no longer has audio. I'm not completely sure, but I think Lounge member "geebo" had a similar situation with his Xfinity X1 STB and I think he changed an audio setting in the X1's UI. Hopefully I'm remembering correctly and he chimes in on this.

I have re-downloaded FW, used another flash drive, put on new FW on drive, Did FW update again, same result. Reboot X1 and XMC-2, no difference. Followed FW instruction to include Factory Reset. I tried to reproduce this and could not using my X1 box.

Did the FW3.1 upgrade. Function seems a bit better. VRO is fine for the Winter. The room needs some more heat anyway.
Sound - played parts of Blade Runner 2049. I use this movie as a test disc. BR 2049 uses the Heights extensively. System is setup as 7.2.6. All 6 Height channels played with FW2.3. The mid-Heights are missing with FW3.1. What was done to FW3.1 concerning the Height channels?
Speaker setup in the Menu is as before. I tested the channels with the internal pink noise. All channels work. A level issue with the pink noise seems to be fixed with FW3.1.

I was also having some issue with the X1 box with some long pauses and sluggish RMC behavior whenever I paused the X1 box. Changing the Audio mode in the X1 settings from Expert Mode to Auto took care of it. It doesn't sound like you're have the same issue but it wouldn't take long to try changing that setting and see if it makes a difference. There's something odd happening with the RMC and the X1 with Audio set to Expert Mode.

XMC-2 user here, with a Sony 77'' A80J 4K HDR OLED TV (with the latest Sony TV Firmware installed) . I had a few hiccups during the update, on step 5 "- (if the processor shuts down but fails to restart, wait ten minutes, then manually restart the processor - turn the power switch OFF, wait sixty seconds, then turn the power switch back ON)"
My processor didn't shutdown on its own, I had power cycle it manually, then I was able to get things going just fine. Prior to this update, the worst issue I had was the pop and clicks when changing channels on my Tv from the local internal 3.0 ATSC OTA . The audio from my tv was provided via TOSLINK to the XMC-2, cause TOSLINK always works lol! After the whole process all the pops and clicks were gone...! I did a restore of my settings and they all came back and the input names were all wrong..... ARGH. .!
So I redid the firmware process all over hoping the restore messed up the special sauce 3.1 fixed, but I have ran the process twice now with NO restore from my backup, and still pops and clicks from the audio to the XMC-2 via HDMI ARC. When I use all the apps in the Sony TV, I have pops and clicks switching back and forth between apps. I also have a Nvidia Shield for my app streamer, and if I use that everything works like a champ to include input switching with no issues. Now is ARC working perfect, but I have an older version of the HDMI board so no eARC. FW 3.1 FP 2.11 Kernal 1.2 HDMI 8.1 DSP0 3.1 DSP1 3.1 USB 3.1 I hope this helps to narrow down the pops and clicks on Sony TV's.. The Menu seems quicker, the switching is still slow, but getting faster. Also add my XMC-2 to the cold boot getting the rebuilding of Fonts X2 Till the next update...Progress is Progress! THANK YOU Emo TEAM!

I followed the instruction to the letter and everything went according to plan! I will do an in depth a/b tomorrow with a Mcintosh MX123 that I recently acquired, which this has been the incumbent processor in the system for the past 4 weeks. I have a feeling that my RMC-1L might become the top dog again, after this update and those to come. It has only been the quirky video behaviours and general stability that diminished the performance of the RMC1-L, because audio wise it has always been superb imho.

I haven't done my update yet as Im at work but this would irritate me no end Anyone else getting this issue with no mid-heights?

Try going into the speaker setup menu and cycle the middle heights. They are dual purpose so it may just need a cycle to tell it they are there. Should resolve it. Lonnie

You might have to load your settings by hand. Lonnie

As a soon to be new owner of RMC-1L, I have a couple questions, - Can I use my Logitech harmony remote with emotiva? - Is there any Emotiva remote app available for iOS?
Thanks.

The iOS App can be downloaded from the App Store, search for ‘Emotiva Remote’. The Logitech database can be searched for XMC-2 to get the Device codes.

Update went mostly okay. Experienced the hang at Step 5 shutdown on its own but failed to restart. Followed all remaining steps meticulously. I believe I have same issue with middle heights and overall diminished height presence. Toggled all 6 heights in settings with no change. Older RMC-1L
Also using Samsung TV no ARC at all and new firmware didn't seem to improve the TV recognizing that receiver/processor is attached. Had this issue prior to upgrade. Yes followed steps 8,9,10,11,12,13,14,and 15 that are stated unique to this upgrade.
Some very slight quieter pops and clicks but vastly improved with audio lock. Not enough time to see if the complete audio drop out experienced with Disney+ requiring power off is resolved.
Many steps forward so far! Thank you Emo!
Edit: Left off that CEC auto change of input to blu-ray power on blacked out the left side of display. Using remote to manual select the input turn back on the display information.

Update went smooth, everything worked as documented. The pops and clicks are basically gone.
After the update there is one thing that is different. I mostly use a Roku connected to the XMC-2 which is then connected to the TV. I use the XMC-2 with the HDMI Standby in the "Video Remains On". With the XMC-2 turned off and watching the Roku the audio volume that is passed thru to the TV is very low and the TV volume must be turned up nearly all the way.

I'm in the wait for the fonts fix as I restart my XMC-2 every day as the network stack overflows (on my busy home network) at lest that all I can determine - and processor gets very sluggish until a full restart.
I am also running 7.1.6 so have all the heights in play for Atmos so thats a fix I will await perhaps too.
and for a bit of fun I only use HDMI 1 input form an HDFury VRROOM because the video switching and lost audio issues crippled just about every evenings enjoyment and the constant reminders too to "rethink highend" was telling my wife that I should heed the advice and get something else. I still dig in for the XMC-2 tho and 2.5 has been (with daily cold restarts on a Wemo controlled powerpoint are the norm, along with the VRROOM just for good measure.
Lets hope 3.1.1 doesn't take another 300 days to get out the gate with the fonts and heights fixes.

Has anyone verified if the bass management native in the RMC-1/XMC-2 has been corrected eg test tone volume mismatch, etc etc?
