I fell asleep in Way Of The Water at the theater. Actually, I fell asleep repeatedly. The visual effects were great, but the story just couldn't hold my attention like the first one did. As a visual fantasy, I think it certainly hit the mark and I see why so many enjoyed it. Not trying to argue or spoil anyone else's impression of it. Just here to let Boom know he's not completely alone. LOL

I didn’t realize how much of it I missed while passed out until we watched the first half lol. It is a rich environment and fantastic eye candy…… That being said, somehow, I doubt that financially they will make as many installments of this franchise that they have planned. If I heard correctly they’re talking about making four more I don’t think I could stand it.

... If I heard correctly they’re talking about making four more ... Oooh, oooh, I'm waiting for the one where the Na'vi go back in time and come to 1912 earth where they make a home in the recently sunk Titanic! They find Jack still sinking to the bottom, hook him up to the (portable) tree of souls and bring him back to life! (the cold water kept him viable). His Avatar then goes searching for Rose and when she sees his blue skin, and he looks into her blue eyes, they are entranced, couple for life, and make lots of blue babies. The End!

That's at least as good as what most Hollywood screenwriters are turning out these days

...hook him up to the (portable) tree of souls... I laughed harder than I have in quite a while - and I needed it. Thanks, AudioHTIT! I'm going to have to steal that it's sooooo good.

Since I think it’s been around 14 years since Avatar came out, I wondered if the thinking had changed. ……And it turns out that even Cameron himself, according to one of the interviews may be having a change of heart and thought about that; as he was saying, “we’re living in a different world, since the first film came out”……other things also, perhaps this thing will wind up being a trilogy perhaps instead of five.

I think too much time, energy and effort went into visual effects and not nearly enough time on the story line. Rented in 4K. Didn't see it in 3D, but in the past I get a headache every time, and my eyes get really dry. First movie is better.

OK - So I watched this tonight due to the generosity of garbulky, who loaned me his disc. And??? It was a fine tale with amazing special effects. The cinematography alone is beyond anything I’ve seen. But… The plot wasn’t in the same league. My major objection to the movie is, in a word, credibility. Now wait, I hear you objecting, “this is a SCIENCE FICTION movie - whufo you axin’ about credibility?” Yes, I can offer a lot of leeway to a movie that has an essentially “unreal” premise to start with, but this flick pushed every one of my boundaries of tolerance: The perpetual baddies, “the sky people,” make their inevitable reprise. Last time, they mined “unobtanium,” this time, they want whale brains. Really? Despite having mastered intergalactic flight, the baddies have only 20th century machine guns and grenade launchers? Really? Jake Sulley (sic) is a genetically engineered body, yet he’s fertile? Really? Not only is little Jakey fertile, but half his kids are Aquaman incarnate? Really? I could go on, but the gist of my objections is clear. So what DO I consider “credible science fiction?” Two shows that come to mind immediately are “The Martian” and “The Expanse.” You’re most welcome to disagree with me. I only wish that “Avatar, The Way of Water” had a plot worthy of its cinematography. Seven months beyond this post, and I was thinking about the future of Avatar ( I don’t think there is one,) except perhaps a box office flop. If they continue on time will tell I suppose last time I looked, a continuation was in the works.

OK so I just looked six movies altogether between now and 2031!?
That’s enough to make a grown man cry

I watched 3D way of water in my home theater. In general, I was entertained but particularly liked Sigourney Weavers character over all of the others

The way of water is visually spectacular, but that being said, I don’t see how this story is going to carry through six movies without boring folks to tears
