So my insurance claims adjuster and my roofing contractor ended up inspecting my roof yesterday, and they found more damage than just the branch puncture hole. I should be getting an update from both(hopefully) tomorrow, but I got the go ahead from the insurance adjuster for the roofer to start when he can get me on their schedule. Are they going to replace the shingles? Not sure just yet as the adjuster is doing his write up/itemization of the damage, but my fingers are crossed for a favorable outcome.

Even though I live in Michigan, I dealt with this last year working for a friend with a winter home in North Port after hurricane Ian. The insurance company dragged their feet, and the adjuster rendered a really low estimate of damages. We ended up hiring a public adjuster and then a property damage attorney to get them to treat her fairly. Net, in the end, insurance paid enough to replace the shingles and pay for downed tree removal. A huge difference from their initial payment of a few hundred dollars. I hope you don't need anything like this, LC, but if you do, PM me for the name of the attorney.
Best of luck!!

When this happenned to us, the adjuster wanted to just do minor repairs, however I asked him why all the other homes in the neighborhood were having their roofs replaced after the hail storm and mine not. I told him I must have been really good because "God spared me". He didn't have an answer for that, but did go back up on the roof with the contractor and came down an hour later saying they found alot of hail damage and the roof would be replaced. We switched insurance companies shortly thereafter.

Soooooo, 44 days later and my roofing company began installing a new roof bright and early this morning @7:00am. Just went by during work and they look to be finishing up by the time I get home after work. I was originally scheduled for next Wednesday, but got a call yesterday to be told they were ahead of schedule this week and could fit me in Friday(today)! I’m off work next week so now most of week has opened up because of this, I think I’ll be taking advantage and have a day or two of movies, and then head out of town to go to my Moms to celebrate her 90th Birthday!!!
