Hello, I updated to the latest firmware on my 820 but no matter what I do I cannot get those choices to show up.  Could it be the tv?  I have a Sony XBR-65Z9D.  Does having the choices for DV require a newer tv?  Mine is 4K and has no trouble showing DV movies.

Your older Sony Z9D only supports the "Player LED" profile. So that's likely why you're not seeing this option.

FWIW, Dolby and Sony collaborated to come up with the "Player LED" profile as an effort to enable Dolby Vision on Sony's earlier HDR capable displays. I don't believe any of their newer models require this profile as the DV engine is now native to the internal hardware (TV LED).

So the threat is WARRANTY BullCrap if I don't register.

The Registration is used as a scam for marketing and 'reminders'.       It started in on me at 6 months to 'remind' me to change filters.     Well?    Unit had maybe 20 hours on it.    Heat mostly not needed and
A/C not at all.     
I tried to get in touch with 'em.......with a process / product improvement suggestion.
Filter change?    1.   By HOURS of fan operation  OR     2.  Number of 'cycles'..........

The good news is that MERV8 filters are dirt cheap.   And in this system, take 1 minute to swap.    I did change the original filter and Parts of it still passed light....so it was not clogged to unusable.

I see similar with BOTH the new major remote control systems. The Sofabaton and the Unfolded Circle remote 3......

I have a question pending now for a WEEK+ with the Unfolded people. A very simple question of 'does your remote control this piece'?


Actually, the Panasonic system ain't bad for firmware updates. Nikon has a similar system for there cameras. I purchased my camera and it
had 1.01 installed and over a few years I've upgraded to 3.60 and improved several important functions......


IF your particular gear has online manuals? Do what I did......Name a folder on your desktop and copy all the docs TO that folder.

I’ve been enjoying a feature of the 820 which is kind of a “ step back” from my old Samsung 7500.

That unit was all digital touch control as opposed to the mechanical on and off and open buttons on top of this unit. The digital control on the Samsung was hypersensitive and without Awareness of what Could happen, the drawer could Inadvertently close On a disk and damage it which did occur to a very important disc in my collection. I didn’t realize how totally relieved I was to be done with that until I actually was L O L.

Besides that and another insurance policy for trouble like that, is that the disc drawer and the door the covers the front of the unit are two separate pieces. With that design, what happened to me in the past is pretty much impossible with this unit.
