I have installed hurricane shutters on the first floor. Trying to find someone to install second floor. I would've done it myself but can't do ladders as I've had knee surgery. Hope you found someone to put your shutters up. Where are you located? The National Guard is setting up camp in Tampa Bay's Tropicana Field. Most coastal areas have already been issued evacuation orders. Our hurricane shutters are up, outdoor furniture has been stored in the garage, batteries charged, etc. etc. As prepared as we can be. I managed to find a contractor to install shutters on the 2md floor for myself and 12 other neighbors. They came in wiht a crew of 6 and worked in an assembly-line to get them all done. Now we just wait and pray.

It turned South last night and looks like it's steering more toward Cape Coral.....
We're still recovering from Ian which has been Florida's most costly storm to date and the 3rd costliest hurricane in US history. We really don't need another one just yet, thank you....

I hope for all involved that you get through this and remain safe throughout. I’ve been closely watching as I have family in Orlando, though by the projected path of Milton, it looks like they won’t be facing a Major category hurricane when it passes by to their south. Fingers crossed!!!

Just got word from next door neighbor who stayed to ride it out. Surge is high but got a ways to go yet. Wind is a constant 40mph with 65mph gusts (no biggie) and the power just went out at 9pm
Other than that Ft Myers/Cape Coral looks to be in good shape. Tampa is taking it on the chin though. Scott

I’m on the Treasure Coast and we have had tons of rain and lots of flooding, but I’m high and dry so I’m good. Hardly any wind to speak of so far. AccuWeather says we’re getting 44mph winds but I just stepped outside and it’s barely a light breeze. It’s actually rather nice out right now. Granted we still have plenty of hours before it’s past us, but so far so good here.

I’d be surprised if Hemster and LuisV haven’t already lost power. Hopefully they are withstanding the winds at this point. 🤞

For those of you wanting to track Milton, zoom.earth is quite a good site with the most relevant overlays.

My family members have checked in from Orlando and Malabar/Palm Bay, no damage to report and they never lost power!

I heard from my friends in Florida - they were lucky too - no power loss & other than debris, no significant damage.

Family is safe. Their home is standing with minimal damage. No power. The rest of the neighborhood looks like a war zone with lots of damage, and homes that have disappeared.

So any news on your property in Cape Coral this morning? All is good and no water intrusion at all. Power down as of 9pm last night but it's back on. I am able to log onto my home HVAC system. We dodged a huge bullet on this one! Scott
