Round 2... Hurricane Milton is on the way. NOAA is indicating a possible CAT2 / CAT3 upon landfall in the St Pete, Tampa, Sarasota area... so we're in it's path.... time to deploy the hurricane shutters.

I'm in the cross-hairs of Milton. Have food & water. Not in an evacuation zone. Planning to hunker down. Will put up shutters today/tomorrow.
Come on wind shear.. break this thing up!

What's so troubling is this storm is moving very slowly but growing rapidly. There's a lot of warm water for this beast to grow. Scott

You are right. Now it's a cat 5! Got the residence boarded up? I have installed hurricane shutters on the first floor. Trying to find someone to install second floor. I would've done it myself but can't do ladders as I've had knee surgery.

Yeah - building strength and moving slow. We have friends directly in the path (starting at Bradenton and on through Orlando-ish areas). I have encouraged them to get out. Some are in the path but not in the evac zone...still saying...get out! Mark

The family is in PA now, right? Yeah, we're all in PA talking with our neighbors a few times a day. Folks are right nervous, and for good reason.
Currently 180 mph winds (sustained) and pressure around 897 mb. This thing is setting some new records... I am placing hope on the cool air sucking energy out of it before landfall. Scott

Man, it looks like it could go in right above you. But no matter what happens, you and the family will be okay. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your friends in Florida.

I would've done it myself but can't do ladders as I've had knee surgery. Hope you found someone to put your shutters up. Where are you located? The National Guard is setting up camp in Tampa Bay's Tropicana Field. Most coastal areas have already been issued evacuation orders. Our hurricane shutters are up, outdoor furniture has been stored in the garage, batteries charged, etc. etc. As prepared as we can be.

This one has me very nervous. It looks like its going right into the bay with massive surge. I'm not overly worried for myself, since I'm on the opposite coast and will be decently south of it, but we have friends in St. Pete and in Citrus Co. Also, my niece is on the Space Coast which is where this thing is supposed to exit. Luckily, her and her mother are able to get out of town for the next few days. Please be safe everyone.

For those in the way, heed the warnings and move to safer areas. Praying for a reduction in strength. Be safe!
