So let me start by saying I am NOT a professional audio equipment reviewer so please understand that going in.
Unpacking-As many have indicated, these babies were double boxed and wrapped in baby soft black cloth. The care and finish of this product was outstanding.
The setup-XPA-2 through a Parasound 2100 connected by audioquest G-snake. Oppo BDP-83 connected to the 2100 with straightwire cables from 1988 (may need to upgrade here if these can go bad over time). Speaker cables are Zara labs RSC Prime. Lastly a Klipsch Synergy Sub-12-crossover set at 80hz. 6.2's are on VTI RF29 speaker stands.
The test tracks:
Diana Krall Love Scenes
Supertramp Crime of the Century and Cannonball
Dave Barnes Me and You and the World
John Mayer Continuum and Where the Light Is Blu-Ray Concert
Overall experience
My main speakers to this point have been the Magnepan MMG's (no mods) and a very esoteric set of Fuselier 3 book shelf speakers from 1988). I will use the Maggies as the baseline for comparison.
Right off the bat the 6.2's reflected a wider and deeper soundstage vs the Maggies. In addition the 6.2's overall sound more natural. I must say for the record that the MMG's are a bit more precise at voice and instrument reproduction and placement within the left to right soundstage, but sometime to a fault. That is to say I often find myself listening to the voice and instrument placement vs just enjoying the music.
I need to do some tweaking on the bass balance to make it a fair comparison, but the MMG's had tighter punch on the bass side as I believe with a bit lower bandwidth (50hz-MMG vs 80hz-6.2's) the MMG's were able to do more work here.
I would say that the 6.2 provided an overall enjoyable listening experience. As I continue to listen and compare, I will get a better sense of which speakers I will listen to the majority of the time. My sense after 2 days of listening is that the 6.2's will be my day in and out setup with a possible swap out to the Maggies for classical music, but then I have not tested classical on the 6.2's yet so we shall see.

I love the sound of the 6.2s. I have a set for 2 channel and they are very crisp, detailed and precise. They are great for classical and jazz..  |

I had a chance to spend a bit of time listening to the 6.2's in the HT room this weekend watching Wolverine and listening to some Queensryche. They sound frickin incredible!
I have been using some Klipsch RB25's in my workout room every morning and have decided I am going to have to replace them with 6.2's as I love the sound of them so much.
Now, the harder decision is do I want to move one of the 6.2's from the HT room to the workout room and buy one more 6.2 for the workout room and replace the 6.2 from the HT room with a 6.3? Or, do I just want to buy two more 6.2's for the workout room and leave the HT room alone? I am leaning towards the latter as after hearing the 6.2 vs. 6.3 at Emofest, I prefered the 6.2.

I also heard the 6.2's in 2 channel duty at Emofest and they sounded great, I may have to move up from ERM-1 to 6.2's someday........... |

Wow! I did not know the ERM-1 sounds better than the ERM 6.3. I heard that people who attended the Emofest came back and saying how good the ERM 6.2 sounds when they had a chance to listen to it there. Even better than the ERM 6.3 too.

I've been telling people over the phone that the ERM-1's sound great for over a year now...and then the ERM-6.2's...but everyone is so obsessed with SIZE and LOW END. They sound great because they are so efficient, and when matched up with a decent sub, the sound is big, clean and very nice.

They sound great because they are so efficient, and when matched up with a decent sub, the sound is big, clean and very nice. Size and low end.....which doesn't really make a big difference when you are going to match them with a good sub crossing over at 80Hz. I haven't heard the 6.2 but I might guess that the ERM-1 have almost the same plus in the naturalness of vocal reproduction. And for $149 each....well, I'm not going to let the secret out as to which speaker is the best bang for the buck in the Emo line for small to medium size rooms. Size is important, but necessarily in speakers. ;D The ERM-1 is also outstanding as a center speaker. This continual mantra about the center speaker being the most important for HT, IMO is way overstated. Yes, the center carries at lot of the dialog but soitainly not all of it by any means. Plus, generally dialog is very easy for a speaker to reproduce. The center carries a lot more than dialog in soundtracks and multichannel music. The center should have the same exact sound characteristics as the other speakers. Those who buy a moderate bookshelf like the ERM-1 or 6.2 and then think they need some monstrosity for the center channel are "nuts." (I should know). Natural, defined and flat response is what a center channel speaker needs, not an exaggerated mid. Many of these centernuts have the center speaker at a higher gain than the L&R, bad. If you can't hear the dialog on an Emo speaker it is the fault of the source and not the speaker. I think the 6.3 is the perfect center speaker for the 8.3 and the 6.3. The perfect center for the 6.2 is the 6.2 and for the ERM-1 is the ERM-1. Whew! Glad I got that off my chest. ;D |

chuckienut, It must have been quite a relief to get all those heavy speakers off your chest. Whew! How were you able to breath? Out of curiosity, why did you have all those speakers mounted on your chest to begin with? ;D ;D Did you think that by having them on top of your lungs you would get a sound with more "air"?   |

Got 2 more 6.2's coming my way for the 2-ch/workout room. I made the mistake of listening to the 6.2's from downstairs in the HT room in the workout room...and the rest was history. Think I have made up my mind to pretty much go all out in the workout room now.

from the posts about 6.3 and 6.2 . i think i made up my mind on the 6.2 . I need to save up for the ers 212 and the umc1. my current center the polk cs1 is bad. I sometime endup enabling the subtitle just to keep up with the dialog!! |
