Hi all, The Ninja is still awaiting 6.3 schematics (I am sure Emotiva are very busy). I thought I would start this thread to discuss these crossovers (as opposed to just for the 6.2s) and I will open a poll for interest on the chance we can get a group-buy deal or something.

Had you heard them before the upgrade as well?

If we do a group buy, The Ninja will give us 10% discount.
All that needs to happen is for everyone to place their order within a 7 day period.
So lets run the poll a bit longer, see what the comments are on their 6.2 upgrades and then we can look at organising something.

Im in for the ERT 8.3 and ERM 6.3. I wonder how much this would cost me. Maybe even the ERD's

Does anyone know how much of the cost of a Ninja upgrade you can expect get back out when you go to resell the speakers later on down the line?
Mark.

I think it would just depend on how long you have had them and how interested a potential buyer is... Some people would love the convenience of having the upgrade already done and others will just be looking for the cheapest price possible.

I've also asked about getting an "all new PCB" as well, that way, you could potentially sell the new crossover separately in the future after plugging the old one back in - and in my case I wouldn't have to be without my speakers. I suppose I could use my spare ERD-1 set + phantom centre while the crossovers went away.

I sent my networks in to the Ninja awhile back. Beleive those are my crossover pictured on his sight. At that time he had no info or schematics to work off of. Sean went as far as to reach out to Emotiva at one of the equipment shows for a schematic. After he got one he upgraded some key components and sent them back. I installed them a let them break in and all I can say is it took a good speaker and made it better. Really opened them up. The 6.2's are an amazing speaker especially when you consider price. (still don't know how they do it. What a gift Emotiva has been for me with my low budget, they put audiophile grade equipment within my reach). The 6.2's rock!!

It was as if a vale had been lifted. So in other words after this mod the speakers sounded as good as ones costing at least 20x more than the Emo's, I take it.

And then it was compared to some obscure product you've never heard of and the review said that it was almost as good but that obscure product did manage to best it in some subtle way, therefore assuring future advertising for that obscure product... Gotta love audio magazine reviews. ;D Mark.

Yea, kind of hard to descibe a perceived change without bringing out the overly used reveiwers words. But here goes. Broader soundstage and a live performance sounds like a live performance. Take it as you will. The sierra's have a wonderful midrange and top end but could not take the xpa-2 power. They would start to compress the sound and even pop in displeasure. I need something that can hang with the two mfw-15's and the 6.2's are the one's which can. The 6.2's I can turn uphalfway and they only get better. Have yet to hear them give up. My ears(and the neighbors) give up first. After hearing the sierra's I knew what was missing in the 6.2's (and for twice the price they should) and the ninja said he'd like a shot at them and that he thought he could give me what I was looking for. Ended up selling the sierra's and keeping the 6.2's. It was worth the gamble for me warranty or not.

So were you able to crank the 6.2's that high before the Ninja upgrade, or did the upgrade help in that respect?

The Ninja says he can look at the option of getting blank PCBs from Emotiva for those that would like to get a ready to go replacement without having to send away their crossovers (likely you would still have to solder the switches off/on, but that would be all I believe.

The 6.2's crank right out of the box. Unbelievable. I asked the Ninja if he could design a new network and he said he could. More time and of course costs would be involved there. I know he'll work for you with what you want. If he could get the boards from emo seems the sky's the limit. The 6.2's seem to be a well designed box and speakers (to me a novice) so, there's probably alot to work with. I've had the upgrades in for about two months now. I did not want to say to much here till I got a chance to break them in. I don't want to step on toes here at emo either. Though they did work with the ninja once he told them what we were up to. Emo & 6.2's rock!!

FYI: ERM-6.2 and ERM-1 share the same crossover. So the votes should be counted together.
