Nice post Darien! In much fewer words, I totally agree! ;D The depth, clarity, and dynamic range increase is real. No placebo affect here. MY sub output seems to be much more hot than usual. All your settings check out ok? I've noticed my sub running hot also. I balanced using test tones and when playing music or anything dolby digital over optical the sub is way hot. Hoping the firmware will fix this.

That's what I been screamin'! I'm just diggin' the hell out of my whole cd collection, the clarity and dynamics, top to bottom, really good. I know moe, but some people have just a clearer way with words, that's all. * Darien just happened to be one of them. I would hardly call my post eloquent. I'm not a true audiophile. I often read reviews that go completely over my head when they talk about "presence", "dynamics", "soundstage" and other hard to describe attributes. But I know what sounds good to me, and I have been slowly moving towards a more high-end type of system. I started out with a cheapy Sony receiver many years ago, then upgraded to my first Yamaha soon after. I started hanging out at a local Magnolia and listening to Denon receivers and brands of speakers like Boston Acoustics, Def Tech and Monitor. I ended up getting a great deal on my VR 2's as they were demo models. I bought a Denon receiver online and soon after bought my first separate amplifier, an Acurus 200x3. I've alway been a "bang for the buck" kinda guy, which is what brought me to Emotiva. First I bought an LPA-1, then an XPA-5, now the UMC-1. I'm baby-stepping my way to audio Nirvana, and it's been an interesting, sometimes fun and many times frustrating experience. But there's tons of info out there and I learn something new just about every day.

Who said something about 'eloquent'? * Anyway, thanks for sharing, as for the normal people out there, your words are well received. Your personal path to audio gives you the right and the knowledge to speak 'clearly', and well understood by the common people, us. Bob
