Actually I only argue with a very select few here who are proven morons many times : One who swears by "THX" certification being so useful and worthwhile for the paying public, another who has intimate experience with specific Magnepan model speakers, then turns around later to prove just the opposite, then another guy who thinks B&K is rock solid equipment(when I was in the QC control/RMA dept. RMA'ing countless dozens of their amp products in less than a years time from Canton Mass. for Tweeter back around the time period the amp in question here was purchased )when in fact the gear is suspect at best from that time period. Some people just don't like my "internet tone", and dry sarcasm and feel slighted if someone else like me tells them something differently concerning their gear, buying choice or knowledge base(or lack of)if it doesn't come across warm and fuzzy with plenty of care bears attached to a box of chocolates gift wrapped in Muppet Baby wrapping paper. Reminds me of the Milton sketches personally........... So in other words anyone who disagrees with you is a "moron." Right....

[or more specifically people who disagree, just because its "me", FYI, I have never disagreed with you just because it's "you" posting. Only because what you post is often either completely wrong, or so full of your opinion stated as fact that it is difficult to determine where one stops and the other begins. If you have some sort of persecution complex and think it's about "you" you are very much mistaken, at least when it comes to my posts on this forum.

Just points to one of my past arguments with you about confusion with the buying public on what they percieve to be a "better" product just because a licensed logo was slapped on the front face plate, when many times its not in reflection to a similiar product that may not have that licensed logo or "certification" process. Take Emotivas own gear for one. TX 4430 or XPA-5 for a third of the price.

You talk of so many of my posts being completely wrong, but yet you rarely if at all post anything to disprove what I state. Every time I post something that disagrees with something you or someone else states, I at least back it up with my own reasoning many times which is going to be loaded with facts or real world experiences.

I have 2 things to say here.
First, going back to the OP, which seems to have gotten lost for some reason...... As an owner of an ERC-1 CD player, I will say that from my first user review of the product, I found it to be a tad bright and forward compared to my Oppo BDP-83 and my friend's JVC XL-Z1050TN. The JVC, from the 1990s still sells in the $250 to $400 range almost 20 years later, if you can find it. I also mentioned how when my ERC was hooked up to a 32 watt per channel Dynaco tube amp, that the brightness was less evident, and the ERC became more musical. As far as the XPA-2 amps, I also agree they are a bit forward in their presentation. It could have something to do with the 32 db gain.
Point number 2.........
Arguing on internet forums is like being in the Special Olympics. You may win the battle, but you still have major life issues to deal with.

ntrain, let me see if I can explain the situation you find yourself in here. If you were in a room with a dozen other people, and they all told you that you stink, the rational person would check their deodorant rather then attacking the others in the room.
Be a rational person.

Hey guys, I am new here. I work with hi-end hifi everyday, I work in Chicago at a place called "the little guys". www.thelittleguys.comI have owned B&K amps forever and I swear by them. I have a B&K REF-7270mkII driving 7 4ohm M&K speakers. I have 3 M&K S150'S in the front, 2 SS150 tri's on the sides & 2 S85's in the back. I drive these speakers to outlanderd volume levels and never once had a problem with my amp. This amp has been in my system for 8 + years I hope this helps. I am also very intrested in trying this new 400x7 class H amp Emo has comming out. Does anyone have any info on this thing yet? For anyone in the greater Chicagoland area, please listen to our raido show on Sundays on am890 at 11:00am to 12:00pm. Thanks Ralph H. 708-754-8844 You guys sell some nice gear. Must be nice to listen to some of those Thiel speakers. I had a B&K receiver when I was married (ex didn't like separates) I believe it was the 505 series 2. Sold it after the divorce to get back into separates, never had a problem with it at all and loved how it sounded, kind of wish I kept it for use as a preamp to see how it sounds with my Emo amps. But I am totally happy with my Anthem.

OP here. All I did was make some casual remarks about my first listens to the XPA-2 and ERC-1. Thats all. I commented that one or the other (or both) were more forward sounding than my main amp of 12 years the B&K. I also called the B&K "a very good amp". I have two, and they sound great and they have never given me any trouble at all.
ntrain immediately went into this diatribe that B&K amps were terrible and 60% of all B&K amps fail and on and on. I can assure you that 1). No company could survive with 60% of their products failing 2). He made it up because he has no point of reference or knowledge of their failure rates.
He also never misses an opportunity to use his huge audio vocabulary to go on and on about all things HiFi and HT as though he's trying to show us all that he's "the man" around here. Well, I don't need no stinkin' audio lessons from him.
I have really enjoyed participating in this forum and 99% of all whom are here. But there's always one guy who is constantly stirring the pot and his name is ntrain.......

Ntrain42, if I were you, I would not be bragging about working tweeter at all. I have been selling B&K amps for well over 13 years. Out of the 13 years I can honestly say I have only seen a handfull bad. I am talking about 100's and 100's of amps sold here at my store. Did it ever dawn on you it was end user error? ? I have seen many people abuse amps and brake them due to abuse rather than manufuctures defects. I would think long and hard before running your mouth on a public forum about something that is not true. Like I have stated before, I have had my B&K Ref7270MKII AMP for over 8 yrs. I have also had a 4ohm load on it since day one and run it harder than most. It is ROCK SOLID!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!! Never a problem whatsoever. I have seen many other amps fail with 7 4ohm speakers on it. That speaks alot for the quality of a B&K amp. 7 4ohm speakers running it hard for well over 8 years no issues at all. Good Day
