Hi all.
New member 1st post. I'm interested in the XPA-5, the European launch can't come soon enough. In the UK getting a half decent power amp of similar spec your talking double the price or more of the XPA-5. So I hoping the launch is not to far away. There is demand in the UK for the Emotiva products.

Welcome!
Demand is by no means limited to the UK...
I am very curious how the pricing is going to be. Until now, shipping was expensive, especially for the XPA and XPR amps and speakers. And then you had to cough up an additional 30% for duties and VAT. Luckily the dollar / euro rate was very favourable. This meant that buying Emotiva gear in stead of other was still a no-brainer. I would imagine that duties and VAT would be added to the prices. Shipping inside EU should be free of charge as it's also free inside USA. And if Rotterdam is supplied straight from China, that would cost nothing extra also.

Even with an increase of 30% on prices, due to the Euro/Dollar rate, it would still be very competitive ... and the 5 year warranty is an welcome bonus ...

At today's rates, a XPA-1 costing $999 comes to €753 before duties and taxes. If I add 30% (duties and 21% VAT) that comes to €979. Hence with a bit of safety margin, I bet the price will be the same figure in euro as they are in USD.
Does something like VAT or sales tax even exist in USA? When or in which case is it applied?
Maintaining a EU branch will cost more than doing the EU-business in Franklin but this cost will be more than offset by the extra sales this move will generate. Teufel from Germany uses also an internet based sales model with very cost-effective speakers. I am under the impression they are doing very well.

An UPA-700 for 499€, and XPA-5 by 999€, etc, with 30 day buy and trial and 5 years warranty would be amazing deals ... and i bet would be a enormous success ...

I can only think of Teufel and XTZ that use the same sales model in EU. Both are mainly speaker brands. XTZ has some electronics, but only not very powerful two channel devices and is best known for room correction solutions. There is one Teufel speaker system that Emotiva should have a look at and that's the System 10 THX Ultra 5.1 set. Take a look at the sub: www.teufelaudio.co.uk/heimkino-thx/system-10-thx-ultra-2-certified-cinema-5.1-p13711.htmlEmotiva will hold a unique position.

Petes, see the message from Dan. So, yes there is good the best news related to the European branch. Hi guys, We have already entered into an agreement with with a service center in the Netherlands for direct, local support of our products. We will also begin shipping from Rotterdam very soon with a dedicated site and shopping cart for our European customers. As a side note, we are looking for a technical sales and support specialists to be based in Rotterdam. If any of you out there know of someone who would be interested in joining the "family" please send me a PM. Cheers, Dan

Blimey - how did I miss that. Really good news indeed - and makes me doubly happy that I held on a recent should I/shouldn't I buy another amp decision. Now when they do open, I can feel vindicated in buying another amp thinking about all of the duty I'll be saving (I hope). Annual spring trip over to Holland might now have added benefits Now, I wonder what soon means ....

Would think it didn't matter whether you import yourself or have it done in bulk by Emotiva Europe. These would be included in the prices of course. I think the shipping will be where the biggest saving is realized.

I think the shipping will be where the biggest saving is realized. There will be a saving not only on shipment prices, but also on the taxes that would be applied if it was shipped from the USA. But the biggest bonus will be the local support, which i think was the major drawback for the European customers ...

So Big Dan... When is it coming!! Can't wait anymore.. On the verge of buying a 2nd hand unit from the forum but will happily wait and buy new if you can supply from Europe.. Right now I can't bring myself to spending 15-20% of the unit price on shipping only!! (+20% taxes..)

But you do pay duties between Tennessee and Rotterdam or Guangzong or what ever and Rotterdam... B] That "major drawback for EU customers" is conditional. First, something has to go wrong. Check my sig: nothing ever went wrong with any of these devices thus far that would require shipping back to Franklin for repairs. There was one thing when my XPR didn't want to power on, but this was because I used el cheapo adapter power plug. I fixed it with a replacement pro plug et voilà! Music!
