Considering the UMC-1 supports TrueHD and DTS-HD decode internally why don't you guys get a Blueray player that can bitstream this signal out as the PS3 can't and never will be able to do this. All it can do is convert it to multichan PCM and send it out HDMI. Considering you can get a Blueray player that can do this for $150 bucks I don't get the PS3 Blueray transport fascination. You guys are using a video game console for video transport and are complaining it doesn't work 100% properly... Get a decent standalone transport as you've come this far why not go all the way for proper TrueHD/DTS-HD transport !?! Personally this is what I'd get... www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-80/

The facination is that I can stream from my Computer, hulu, netflix, play games, connect to internet and play blurays. And the ps3 slim does bitstream.... www.engadget.com/2009/08/21/ps3-slim-bitsreams-dolby-truehd-and-dts-hd-ma-audio-at-last/I use my ps3 older fatter version daily and I don't play games but once every couple months or so. But I do stream my entire dvd catalog from my PC to the ps3 and as soon as I can properly rip blurays to my pc then I will rip and stream all of them as well...because I have streamed blurays, with the incorrect audio track through the ps3 and they look every bit as good as watching off the disc. The ps3 has way more than just a bluray player. as the commercials say "it does everything"

1) none of my hdmi inputs function w/o placing a layer of vertical stripes across any screen content. I know it is not my cables or resolution settings because it even does it when I just put the osd up....and, it didn't do it the first time I had my stb hooked up to it. You can call them and ask, but I'll bet you have a memory problem on your video processor.

Then get the new slim model and forget the standalone blueray player.
I'm shocked your old units are even working considering the high failure rate of the PS3.
And the thing is so LOUD I can't believe you can even use it in a theater!

My ps3 fat outputs the HD codecs via LPCM. Explain how that differs other than the light on the UMC that doesn't light up.

There is also some games that have multi channel PCM and I certainly do not wish to lose that. What about many of the first releases from BD encoded with PCM? Lastly the new "slim" PS3 s can send unconverted lossless surround sound. But hopefully none of this matters as it sounds like the UMC-1 does still properly handle decoded lossless signals. edit: wow delay ten minutes and all of a sudden I'm late to the party.

Does anyone know how the discrete input codes are going to work?
We're still waiting for info from Lonnie right? I'm unsure of how we are supposed to use hex code. I have the Harmony One, so I don't understand how we are to upload the hex code to their website or to our remotes.

Only they can upload the hex codes to your profile. Don't know if there is a charge for this service.

Firmware update 2nd time: After I thought the update had worked last night, I began having major video problems today where first the display was showing half-screens of static, flashing purple and green monochrome screens, etc. At some point that settled down, but then I lost all HDMI inputs except for my SAT. WTH??? Called Emo tech support and got Vincent - we determined I should rerun the firmware load again, and then do a default reset again. This time around the firmware load only took 4:53 min vs 10:00 last night. This time around it did NOT scramble all my input setups, etc, but I still had to do the reset to defaults again. Went back in, did all my setups, and all the video is fixed and my HDMIs are switching ok. Except for my Roku box on hdmi 3. The UMC-1 was not sensing it at all. I pulled power on the Roku, restarted it, and it is now working. So after a bit of extra work, everything is looking ok so far. This is 100x more work than it ever took to set up my old DMC-1 which was rock solid from day 1. I still have to test out SACD and DVD and CD, all from my old Denon 2200 player. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Do some research on the differences, or lack thereof, between bitstreaming the signal and sending it PCM, and you'll realize how misinformed you sound suggesting I get a Blu-ray player when I already have a PS3, based strictly on the availability of hi-res sound bitstreaming.... That Oppo you suggested needs to convert DVD-Audio and SACD to PCM to send it to the processor via HDMI as well, I guess that means the Oppo doesn't work properly either, and I should get, oh wait, yea, that's right, that's the only way to send it via HDMI....

I'm now noticing the audio dropouts after pausing my DVR. Also the status box comes up all the time with "No Audio" - never saw that before.

My PS3 has worked flawlessly since I have had it. Not loud at all either. Solidstate do you have a PS3? My xbox 360 failed along with everyone else's I know who's owned one, and Im not exaggerating that either. I can think of at least five people who have owned the 360 and have had to send theirs in, you would think Microsoft being a software company could fix any bugs like that or..oh wait the pcs using windows do that too. Not starting a console war but based on my knowledge those are my thoughts.

Calm down everyone, SS made a mistake. Only God is without fault.
Anyways, I noticed my back left speaker level is set to -10db, and I dont even have a back left? On my EQ my surround left is all zero's on the gain and my surround right freq and gains are all over. And again, Back left and back right freq and gains are all over, but i dont have any back speakers?
Yeah, Ill try to run EMOq again..

Re-ran EmoQ and all xovers and distances were good. Sound quality A+. multiple PCM on direct works in 5.1, so no processing issue. I am a happy camper so far. I will go on a thorough bug hint over the long weekend... You on the wait list are going to be impressed!
