Good morning, OK, here we go! Please follow this link to the UMC-1 update page: emotiva.com/umc1updates.shtmYou will find complete instructions for updating your UMC-1. Please follow the instructions carefully. We suggest printing out the instructions to make it easier. Should you have any questions or need any assistance, we are here to help you. If you feel uncomfortable attempting this on your own, we are happy to help you through the process. If you lack the necessary computer or Internet access to complete the update, please let us know and we'll make arrangements to get your UMC-1 back to us for an update in a 24 hour turn around cycle. Thank you all for your patience and support. It is truly appreciated by all of us at Emotiva. We believe that this corrected and enhanced software will allow you to experience the UMC-1's performance as we intended it. A note on Macrovision: As mentioned earlier, we have obtained Macrovison licensing in order to provide more in depth trans-coding capabilities on copy protected sources. We have another version of the SW for those of you facing Macrovision limitations (on analog video outputs) under development. We anticipate its completion in approx. 3 weeks. This SW enhancement affects only analog video outputs. It has not effect on HDMI enabled content and connections. Again, should you have any questions or need assistance, we are here to help! Sincerely, Big Dan

WhooHoo!!
Thanks Dan.
I know this has been a hectic period for you and your staff and I want to personally thank you for all your efforts. You have a great team there and y'all are very helpful.
In this day and age, it is very rare to find a company that stands by it's customers. Technical issues are an integral part of technology but how a company deals with them is what sets them apart from the rest.
So, thank you all at Emotiva. You have a loyal customer in me.
Best, hemster

UMC1_V102_001 is an update to the front panel micro-controller that includes the discrete IR codes. Umc1HDMI_5.46.07_100208 is the new firware for the audio and video.

I'll update this evening. Glad my wife has a laptop...that'll make this easier. I hope the update fixes more than the few things listed. really, a faster rotary knob is the least of the issues. I have to recal. my levels every time I turn the UMC on each day. It often defaults to 480p. Small, but annoying issues.

Just updated mine and it totally wiped my previous settings. All of my input names were garbled and I am in the process of putting all the input sources back.

would love to know whether the option for all channel stereo is still there. Sorry but no, the stereo setting was all channel stereo and people didn't like it, so it was changed to basic two channel stereo.

You need to turn off the main power switch on the back of the unit after updating and turn it back on. This will cause a system reboot. The garbled info is because you didn't cycle the power.

We made a lot of behind the scene changes that will stream line a lot of the functions.

Just tried emoq and it sent my amp into protect mode. This software is screwed up. Emo-Q works very well. I have tested it a thousand times and it is solid. If the amp went into protect, there is more than likely other issues at play and the software is not screwed up if updated properly.

Nothing wrong with my amp. I followed the directions and it said update was successful. Let's wait and see what others have to say before you blame me.

I can tell you're frustrated, but snapping at Lonnie doesn't seem warrented. If there was any blame being sent it was in your "This software is screwed up" comment. Let's get those other opinions before we decide who should apologize.

Forgive me if this is covered elsewhere but a search found nothing.
Is there a firmware version displayed (or can be displayed) somewhere so that after the upgrade, I can confirm that the update was successful? (I know that the upgrade process itself may state this but want to know if there's somewhere in the menu system where the firmware version can be displayed).
Thanks.

Good question Hemster. In addition, if you suspect something went wrong with an update....can the updater be applied again?
Just curious
