RSavage.. Yes. The update can be applied again (according to the instructions provided by Emotiva).
Still, at some future point if I want to check what the firmware version is, where can I do that? That's really something that I would love to know.

Nothing wrong with my amp. I followed the directions and it said update was successful. Let's wait and see what others have to say before you blame me. I apologize if it came across like that, but we have spent countless hours testing and retesting the software, so I don't believe it to be screwed up. If you are running into issues, then try doing the update again and lets see if that resolves it for you.

Forgive me if this is covered elsewhere but a search found nothing. Is there a firmware version displayed (or can be displayed) somewhere so that after the upgrade, I can confirm that the update was successful? (I know that the upgrade process itself may state this but want to know if there's somewhere in the menu system where the firmware version can be displayed). Thanks. Actually yes, all you have to do is while the umc is on, press Mute, then press Status then press Volume up. The VFD on the UMC will display the current software version for about 10 seconds. It won't show this on the OSD, just on the VFD. So if in doubt, you can always check and see.

Good question Hemster. In addition, if you suspect something went wrong with an update....can the updater be applied again? Just curious R Absolutely. Its not a problem to reflash the unit if you run into any issues.

Will this update FIX the problem with the USP-1 and the UMC-1 remote control problems? ?

Would make it very user friendly. Best regards, Ole Willy Tuv

I'll update this evening. Glad my wife has a laptop...that'll make this easier. i hope the update fixes more than the few things listed. really, a faster rotary knob is the least of the issues. I have to recal. my levels every time I turn the UMC on each day. It often default to 480p. Small, but annoying issues. The complete list of what was addressed is quite extensisve. We made a lot of behind the scene changes that will stream line a lot of the functions. I am moist with anticipation! Thank you all for your hard work. We moan a lot, but we really do appreciate your hard work and your corporate attitude of respect and fair play with your customer base. Your company has provided a lot of us "average Joe's" an exciting way into the hi-end market...and for that, you have or unwavering gratitude. (You can't see me, but I am giving you a standing ovation and yelling, "Speech, speech"!)

Dan -- forgive me but does the update also add the discrete IR codes? thanks, twj Yes, there is actually two firware updates in the software. UMC1_V102_001 is an update to the front panel micro-controller that includes the discrete IR codes. Umc1HDMI_5.46.07_100208 is the new firware for the audio and video. Lonnie, which discrete IR codes were added and how do we access those codes? I'm most interested in the ones for Inputs HDMI1 and HDMI2. The ones for resolution would also be nice.

Just tried emoq and it sent my amp into protect mode. This software is screwed up. EMO-Q does output a rather high level signal: what amp are you using and what is the impedance of your seakers?

I don't want to be a pain in the "*bleep*", and I don't even have my UMC-1 yet...
But, Is there any plans to support flashing the UMC-1 with something other than a MS Windows system (I don't even own one...)
P.S.: Need help with a Apple OS X driver/usb interface?

why couldn't there be an option for both basic 2ch and all channel stereo? I love listening to my music in all channel stereo mode. When its time for me to have my UMC-1 can I perhaps get this option back

OK, anyone have any luck trying to install this using bootcamp on OS X? The installer just hangs for me.

When its time for me to have my UMC-1 can I perhaps get this option back I would like to heavily second this. I know there is hot debate over 5-channel, and even how "best" to implement 5-channel, but it seems that having a 5-channel stereo mode is an age-old standard that many people still enjoy today. I also don't think that the standard "stereo" mode should ever be 5-channel. It seems both options should be readily available on any modern processor or AVR.
