UMC1_V102_001 seems to update OK. Umc1HDMI_5.46.07_100208 starts but stops after about 10 seconds. No error message, but the status bar indicates: "Send "reset 0" command no response!"
Any ideas?

FWIW I tried to install the umc updater on my windows xp second edition computer. The installer did not progress past the looking for previously installed components.
Fortunately, I have a second computer and the installer did load on that unit. Will try to perform the update tonight.
Sounds like this fix isn't going to fix the problems that we have seen where it says that all of our speakers are reverse phase except for the surrounds. Also doesn't sound like it fixes the problem where the surrounds are set to 40 Hz along with the subwoofer and the LCR are set to 250 Hz.
I really hope that we can get a software update list so that we can see if an attempt has been made to fix the problems that we have been seeing.
Maybe the problems will be fixed in the next release that is scheduled 3 weeks out.

I did the update twice. Same effect. I think it may be a hardware problem. Before the update when I manually adjusted the speaker levels when I increased the center channel level by .5db it would jump up 6db. On my previous receiver the 3 front speakers were within 1db on the settings, on the umc I had to lower the center at least 5db to get it calibrated. Mine does that now, before the upgrade. I had to set the trims every time I powered it up. I was hoping that that was part of the fix... Well, we should keep other "bugs" posted as to what doesn't work after the SW update. I am sure they can catch 'em in the next update.

Before the new firmware the sub eq would not work know matter what I did. Tried it after the new firmware and it still doesn't work. All the other speaker eq's work but not for the sub. Even when I ran the emoq it adjusted the frequencies on every speaker except my sub.

Maybe it would help if people posted some computer info like OS/service pack?

Any chance that the update can be put on a flash drive and plugged into the unit to update it? Those of us without a computer close to our home theater would prefer this I'm sure....

I am sure they can catch 'em in the next update. If you run Emo-Q or go into the speaker calibration menu and set the trims there they stick. The on the fly trims from the remote and in the trims menu are temporary settings only for when you want to change something to suit what you are watching. But it will always revert back to what is set in the speaker calibration menu if an input is changed or if the unit is powered off. Hope this helps.

Jeez, these updates on the FW are really disappointing to read. Seems like a real PIA to do this update correctly.

Sorry, USB is not possible with the system as the loader software converts the Hex code to binary and as it loads it sends packets, processor confirms back to the computer it recieved the packets, sends more, confrms, etc. So it is not as simple as just uploading a file.

I'm also having major problems getting this update to load correctly. I have tried using two different computers. One running XP and one running win7 64bit. Xp installs the drivers, but I get numerous errors as mentioned in previous threads when trying to run the update upg file. can never make it anywhere close to getting through the installation. In win7 64 the system hangs when trying to load the driver. More or less freezes on Copying driver files. I say more or less because the system isn't hung, but no usb devices are working (so no mouse/keyboard) and after half an hour it isn't finished copying driver files. Attempting to run program in safe mode right now, but that appears to be a bust as well. I'm gonna try running xp in safe mode and see if that helps at all... beyond that I'm at a loss.

If you are using a 64 bit system, then the extractor used needs to be 64 bit. The one listed on the instructions is for a 32 bit. I should have also listed a link for hte 64 bit extractor. Sorry guys, an oversight on my part. Ultimately if you can't get it to load, don't panic. We are happy to take care of it for you.

My speaker levels trim stick just fine, but when I make a .5db it jumps up 5-6db when I'm calibrating. It seems as if it is sending too high of a gain on the center output. All the others are fine.

If you don't have a computer near your home theater, you have to disconnect the whole thing to have it close enough to update. They said a 24 hour turn-around, however once you put Fedex ground on each side of this turnaround, plus coordination of shipping it out and being there to sign for it when it's shipped back, it becomes a bigger process, and you end up without a home theater for awhile, and for those of us with projectors, it means no TV sound at all. And, what if we have to do this multiple times to deal with multiple firmware updates? People are already talking about items they don't believe are fixed? I can't believe I'm starting to miss my 885 already....

To be honest I have no idea what is going on with your unit. The issues you are stating are just bizzar. Give us a call and let me take a look at it and get it taken care of for you.

I finally forced my Win7 x64 to reach this point. Do this, after waiting at least 10 minutes or so (so that the code has time to execute), hit ctrl-shift-esc. This should show the Task Manager icon in the Notify section in the lower-right. Task Manager likely will not appear, though. Wait another minute, and hit ctrl-alt-del. You should see a message pop up in the background, cancel the Lock window and the message should be warning you about installing an unsigned driver. Go ahead and click install this driver and it should finally complete successfully. This update is based on old-technique, crappy Windows code. I'm not "bashing" here, but it is clearly not an every-man's upgrade. I think some people will ultimately have to send their units in for upgrade. I think that it will become a business decision for Emotiva. Is it costing more in shipping, man hours and image to do upgrades for folks that can't get it to work, or do we fix the upgrade process?
