Hey just a couple quick questions. Ran the EmoQ and the distance was dead on, I am curious as to the 250hz for my fronts and then 200hz for my center. Is this normal for my speakers? They are Paradigm studio 40's. Is there a standard setting for this in the size and crossover setup part? I hate that my bass is so punchy in my smaller living room.

Well the studio 40s are rated to 35 hz, so something in the range of 50ish (with a 12 db slope) would prolly be good. You could just start at the typical 80 Hz for all speakers and work form there. Check your sub trim- mine is always gets set to +10dB and it sounds horrible. Start at zero and inch it up/down until it's to your liking.

That is strange then it got the distance perfectly and way overshot the hz. I only did it once it was soooo Fu#king loud. I would rather do it manually I think.

To get the OPPO to play nice with the UMC-1 on SACD material you need it to send LPCM over HDMI instead of DSD. Have you tried that yet? If that is what you are doing and still don't get a signal to the UMC-1 double check all your settings in both pieces. If that doesn't work, call Emotiva first thing in the morning. These will take care of you. ;D

snodog...two questions (ok, 2 w/probes...):
1) on your x-over settings that Emo-Q reco'd for your fronts, when you look at the multi-channel EQ settings, what is the frequency at which you see a 3 dB jump vs. the next highest frequency level above that jump? (Better yet, can you share screen shots of the EQ settings for each speaker you think the x-over is set wrong?) 2) when you say "it was (explitive) loud", I presume your mean the test signals...right? Got a dB meter so you could gauge how loud it actually is? Also, it didn't shut down your amps or damage anything, did it? Just curious...
Thanks,
Mark

EmoQ is probably 'technically' being accurate - I'd manually set it at 150hz for your mains

Ok I did change the Oppo to LPCM and I am not getting any sound at all on anything. I have tried a regular cd and no sound detected and now a blu ray movie. Checked all the cables again to make sure the hdmi didnt come loose.

snodog, Is your amp on, on that input?
By the sound of it, you're getting 2ch from the oppo (over HDMI), but not SACD? correct?
I don't have any SACD's, so I can't tell you what I've got mine set to.

Im only getting sound from optical now for my cable. Im not getting sound at all from the oppo on any settings. Is my amp on that input? It is connected to the umc but I took the trigger cable off because it shut off earlier via the same problem darien had with both component and hdmi being hooked up caused the trigger cable not to work right....

That's why I asked what I did re. a screen shot of the EQ result.
Per Lonnie's video, Emo-Q is set to figure out the x-over level based on where the final output shows -3 dB.
If I understood this correctly, if the room EQ results shows the fronts not needing 3 dB (or more) boost to get to flat frequency at ~150 hz (per your results), there's an Emo-Q error.
If not, yhrn Emo-Q is correct. And, there's either a room issue OR a reproduction issue (in the source, the pre/pro, the amp, the speakers) OR a data collection error (as in, the mic). Process of elimination, that's all (sorry, 25+ year engineer typing...rather Spock-like, sorry...)

If you're referring to the UMC, then yes. It shouldn't take too long to redo the inputs, though.

If you should happen to get to the point you decide to reset the unit, please take a photo of your Emo-Q reco'd EQ settings and post it prior to resetting. I am really curious as to what you get.
Thanks & good luck w/the input thing... (spock here...)

Ok so this is kind of weird but here goes, in order to regain sound from the Oppo I had to use its remote to turn up the volume from zero then the output on the Umc kicked back on. I dont know why the hell that would affect it I was looking for a way to shut off the volume entirely on the oppo so it would just be sent to processor, anyone know how to do this?
