Hello, I want to know if anybody else have UMC-1 with 7.1 Setup speaker's??? I asked that because I only saw Osogovo who have this setup like me and we have some issue with Back Surround speaker. 1- UMC-1 don't handle DTS ES 6.1 (No sound from back Surround)... 2- We have problem with Matrix 7.1 from 5.1 bitstream source. As soon we pause, skip, REW or FW we lost back surround and come back to 5.1 I want to know if others have this issue because for now I think many of you use only 5.1 setup and on this way it looks good. The goal of this post is to help Emotiva to find a solution for 7.1 setup customers because for now it's the only issue I have that at my point of view is the most important , the other issue doesn't botter me!

Is this an issue? If so, I won't be buying the UMC-1 until its fixed.

To get DTS-ES to work properly (at least for now), engage the Direct mode.

I have a UMC-1 with a 7.1 setup and believe I have this issue as well. The rear surrounds go through the calibration process without issue, but I have yet to hear a thing from them during playback. I hestitated to say whether it was a problem since I do not yet have a blu-ray player that plays in the latest audio formats; however, that said I haven't been able to get any of the other audio formats to play anything through the rear surrounds either. Can anyone recommend an audio setting on the UMC-1 that should guarantee to send content to the rear surrounds in a 7.1 setup so I can check this for sure? Thanks!

If this is a firmare issue has there been any indication when we would seen a firmware update to fix this.
I am still on the waiting list, and although I want the UMC-1, I don't want it if i does not work on a 7.1 system.
Does this mean that anything you feed the UMC you only get 5.1 out of it? Even the newer lossless codecs?

I haven't had any problems lately with DTS-ES once put on direct (of course, it shouldn't have to be put on direct imho) or any of the 7.1 lossless codecs or DPLIIx and the rear speakers. I was having lots of those problems before the initial firmware update.

I believe it's just a firmware issue, because UMC works great with every other 7.1 tracks but Dts Es 6.1.I mean every other ,be so DTS MA7.1,True HD 7.1 or DD EX. Here are the scenarios DTS5.1 >menu >mode>DTS ES> sound from surround backs very stable DTS ES 6.1>menu>mode>DTS ES>no sound from the backs DTS ES6.1>menu.>mode.Direct>sound but not always-unstable DD5.1 EX >menu>mode>DD EX>sound and very stable DTS MA 7.1mode.>DTS master>sound and very stable Digital2/0 >menu>mode.Pllx or Neo6>sound and stable DD5.1>menu>mode>Pllx ,Neo6 or DDEX>sound and stable /not stable when watching tv

For sure the 7.1 is not stable, need to put in direct mode with DTS ES and need to select again PLIIx mode when you pause or skip channel etc on 5.1 source like DD or dts....Mode direct adress only the DTS ES 6.1 issue for now. but for the othe 5.1 source we need to select PLIIx mode each time you lost your back surround..... It is possible for Lonnie or Big Dan to confirm we will have a fix soon because I had only 2 weeks on my trial time....If Emotiva solve this, it will be my best unit I ever had but I need a confirmation

Osogovo, please try DVD with DD 5.1 content on your BDP83 and send it to UMC-1, select PLIIx mode, press pause and press play again, check your back surround and you will probably lost sound from your back channel .....

diskman ,unfortunately you are right.I just tried DPllx on the Saw IV's DD5.1 and after the very first pause back channels were gone.I had to go up and down in the mode +/-selection to get things back to normal.

It will be the same in DTS bitstream......Now we only need to be reassure by Emotiva if the new firmware will give us full functional 7.1 setup. If yes, this unit will be perfect.....

does this problem affect bitstream only? If i switch my PS3 (slim) from bitstream to LPCM, i won't run into back speakers going mute?
