And as a side note to you folks. People can call me rediculous, or my statement rediculous or whatever. Feel free to take potshots at me. I for one have NEVER had a problem with it. I dont take things on this or any other forum personally. Im OK with it, and you will never catch me runnin to a mod to complain about someone else's behavior. And the key reason is "its NOTHING PERSONAL". I myself have a very dry and sarcastic wit, and when I have taken jabs at others in the past, I always feel and expect that they shouldnt take it personal as well.
As for my posts on BUrrBrown DACs I feel I made it very evident why I like them. I tried to go into more detail.
I have had the pleasure of borrowing an OPPO 83 multiplayer when I was reviewing the UMC-1 and some ONKYO pre/pros and AVRs. And I found again with this unit, that it sounded best when using the Pre/pros and AVRs own DACs, all of which had BurrBrown units. Thats why I also own alot of Adcom units and a few Wadia playsers as well. All have that same sound presentation I find most natural. All are very similiar in overall presentation with subtle differences between them.

ntrain42 BurrBrown Adcom give me a break. If you have a job or kids take them outside and do something other than spending it on the post

I just REALLY disagreed with your statement so I made it known. Its not like my opinion is any better than yours, I just wanted to puff about it...These forums are for discussions and debates and disagreement is part of that. It sparks discussion Yep, and thats why I reiterated Im OK with that, but I also tried to expand further on my stance on source units and pre/pro/AVR's that use Burr Brown DACs. As you and others have stated there are different qualities of BB DACs without question, but they all have that same sound presentation that I have always liked. Same with Wolfson,AD,ESS etc. The big difference I feel is in the noise reduction between the different models available. Some have a much lower noise floor(I think there is close to a 30db difference between the different models from the top of the line to the budget DACs)than others, and I feel that is really the big difference. But the sound presentation between em all is really very similiar. THey have always been my preference.

Thats an excellent way to explain it and exactly why I said it was a ridiculous statement. Just a suggestion for the future to keep things friendly. Just stating that a person's post is ridiculous (period, end of post), is by itself rather negative. Why not say that you disagree with their posted statement and then go on to explain why without using terms like ridiculous. ;D This is utterly ridiculous!!!! ;D I did go on to explain... That did it. I am going to start a RIDICULOUS thread. Who's with me? Where do I sign up?

ridiculous
: arousing or deserving ridicule : absurd, preposterous
Please, no need to be rude and ridicule other's posts whether they are thick skinned or not.
Gentlepersons,
3. Be nice to each other and respect the moderators. Profanity, insults, knocking other brands, and generally rude behavior will not be tolerated. Period. Opinions are welcome, not bad behavior.
11. Discussion and opinions are welcome, but we must insist on civility. It’s really simple: Treat others as you would wish them to treat you.
Thank you, Big Dan

You know I would say something here but your spell checking again now and the next thing will be grammar checking and that I think is ridiculous

Anyone who complains about your spelling is simply rude. We like having you here and if I see someone mention your spelling, I will PM them and let them know your spelling is good enough for government work and the Emotive Lounge. The bosses just want members to be respectful of each other in a civil manner. ;D

Well if you ask me, and of course no one did so everyone can bash me for jumping in uninvited ;D , my suggestion is after you have written whatever you have written and before you click the "post reply" button, we should all read our comments from the perspective of the other person. Or read it as though someone else wrote it and was posting it and we were the reader - if we would get offended by it if someone else wrote it to us, then we should probably not post it ourselves. But then who's really taking the time to read what people are typing, and/or edit their own posts? ...Me. ;D

"He" is not ridiculous. His statement is. Animo said it already.... there are MANY versions of Burr-Browns. How can one say they are the best? Yes TI makes some awesome dacs, but they also make some cheaper models as well. Wolfson makes some highly regarded dacs, but just like Burr-Brown they make more than one model. But to call the company out for making a compressed sounding unit? Eh, thats just chicanery. The point is you cannot just lump them together and make a statement like that. Its ridiculous because everyone has different systems that each can obtain different results depending on the model in question. Even the cheaper models like say the 1744's are very good DAC's, they all have that similiar sound characteristic with a wide open soundstage and good instrument detailing with very low noise floor characteristics. When it comes to stereo DACs I find with Burr Brown the big difference is in the noise floor of the audio signal. The overall sound presentation though between the higher end DACs and the lower line models is very similiar. Ntrain, you're one of my very favorite member here (seriously), and I fully agree with you. I luv the older Burr-Brown Dacs, the PCM-63, the PCM-1702 and the famous PCM-1704K (K for High Grade). These were the very best and still are (I know, I'm still using them with excellent resuts; auditory). Also, a very important thing is: when Dacs are used in True Dual Balanced Differential mode (4 Dacs per channel). ...Nice. I also like the 1755, 1738, 1791, 1796 & of course the 1792. And now the newer 32-Bit/192 Khz res, the TI PCM-1795. Bob P.S. Where the heck is your 906 from your sig???
