Wow sweet, my posts keep getting deleted. *bleep* chuckienut and whoever deleted my posts.... This place is turning into a damn nazi camp. Steve, I know you as one of the smartest and nicest people all around the internet. But now with this very post here from you, I should admit that I'm a little surprised. Not that it changed my overall opinion about you, but just surprised nonetheless, that's all. Regards, Bob

My suggestion is this... Drop it and lets get back to what this thread is really about DACS!!!!! Yes boss. And what would you like to say about them? I have had a few, but they have all been in different forms so it is difficult to compare them equally. I have 2 stand alone DACs that use Burr Brown/TI. I think they are great and do have a large sound stage. Been very pleased with both of them. I have a sound card with AK DACs and think it does a good job. I didn't expect the world from a $75 sound card running analogs, but I was pleased with it. My Pio Blu-ray player uses Wolfson's. I think it sounds great. I don't hear any collapsed or compressed sound stage. Really what I am getting at is that there are many capable DAC's out there and they all do a good job at what they are designed for. Implementation is the key and helps distinguish the sound. Which one is right, well only the listeners ears can decide. If there were one DAC that was perfect and the end all be all, well there would only be that DAC, but guess what... there are several choices for a reason.

By the way, what are the Dac(s) used in the ERC-1? The Analog Devices 1955 are the ADCs right?
Also, I luv having the HDCD decoder in any product, be a CD player, a Universal DVD or BD player, a Receiver, a Pre/Pro, etc. That Pacific Microsonics chip (now purchased by Microsoft) the PMD-100 or the PMD-200 in combination with the Dacs, produces a very rich and open, plus dynamic sound. I simply cannot live with it now. I also luv the older Apogee decoder chip.
Anyway, the PMD decoder chip in combination with BB Dacs was a winning combination in the past, this is how much I know. ...And I now want that ERC-1 in my own system, this is also how much I know.

So Steve, tell me, you're strictly into vinyls, and SACDs perhaps too?

So Steve, tell me, you're strictly into vinyls, and SACDs perhaps too? I just got into vinyl, so I wouldnt say strictly. All my other music is stored in a lossless format and streamed/stored in my appleTV. I never got into SACDs.
