According to the specs, the Ultra 12 is rated 22hz-200hz but it does not indicate a -3 at 22hz. This means that if there is a response albeit perhaps a mild thump, they can post 22hz as the low limit. I interpret this as ultra 12s not being able to go down to 20hz, instead it'll goes down to 22hz and at unspecified level, probably much lower than -3 (-20? who knows)
Most companies like SVS and others post a +/-3 frequency range which really should be an industry standard. Congress can mandate pharmaceutical companies to disclose every side effect on a drug but they haven't yet standardized a frequency range w/ a -3 point. WTF? LOL! :-) We need to get Neil Sinclair to run for congress. He'd make a great politician along w/ his wife Evelyn.
I agree that adding a second sub will certainly improve the overall sound as it smooths out the frequency response in the room as well as add punch.
It does not however, lower the frequency response - not to my knowledge.
Also, the Ultra 12 does not look very aesthetically pleasing. But none of the Emotiva speakers do so maybe that's their philosophy.
At least their bread and butter amps have a nice look to them.. love my XPA-5.

The ERM speakers look beautiful IMO ... have you seen them in person?

Anechoic would be higher. They also changed the power rating to RMS down to 300. When they first came out, they rate it at 500 watts. Why not rated rms in the first place.

There is no style to them, they look like typical speakers but you are right, some things look much better in person. Like the day time soap opera stars that visited my work one time. I'll reserve judgement until Emofest 2010. I think that's fair.

Well, maybe they'll post a cross-section view. Like they do w/ the amps. I knew the XPA-5 was going to be great because you could really see the quality from just the pictures. Also, they have lab test reports on each of their amps!!! I know this is a sub thread but you gotta hand it to Emotiva for their amps, no doubt!

. There are only a handful of people in this area who have Rythmik subs, and I know everyone personally. SOrry but your posts from this thread and a handful of others contradicts everything your saying. Time to break out the toilet paper. Ummm... I own a Rythmik sub and I don't recall meeting you, either personally or impersonally.

Did some recent earthly disaster bring California closer to NE by a few thousand miles?

Hi guy's. I love these threads... Does value enter into anyone's thinking? Does a pair of great sounding Ultra 12's for $750.00 sitting on your doorstep not make you pause? If you have $1300.00 to $1500.00 to spend, wouldn't you want to hang on to half of it, all things considered? Or, at least take a chance before you decided that the Ultra's were not going to cut it? You could buy a UMC-1 with what's left over! We use a pair of Ultra 12's in our demo theater, and they absolutely kill. If you like our other products, do you really think we'd build a bad sub? Forget cost, these are great subs and very well engineered and developed. I'm surprised that you guy's aren't giving us a try. I've made it pretty easy to take the plunge. Fortunately, a lot of other people have purchased them at this great price this weekend. I hope you guy's do too. Free shipping, 30 day trial period, 5 YEAR transferrable parts and labor warranty, and great sound!! $749.00 for a pair of Ultra 12's. Geez. I give up. Remember, be nice to each other, please. Dig Dan Dan, I get it. I got it. (both U12's) Thank You
