Metal. Even though I mostly use a Harmony.

Metal, I love thee. IMO it's also one thing that sets Emotiva equipment apart from other companies. I remember my first piece of Emo gear, the XDA-1, and holding that metal remote for the first time. I nearly had a crisis right there on the floor! Oh, and I'd totally be willing to pay $50 for Lonnie's uber-cool backlit aluminum remote.

A back lit aluminum remote. I'll pay the extra $50.00.

Does it matter at this point? More importantly, can I get the shiny trim pieces to match my other gear?

I'm in the "metal" camp, but would certainly like to know more about Lonnie's suggested "Aluminum Backlit" remote. I'd possibly pony up the extra 50 bucks…

I'd pay $50 for a backlit metal remote, even though I'll probably never use it. I don't mind wasting money

Yes, Lonnie wants to know Metal or Backlit Plastic - the backlighting is what people are asking for. The poll should reflect this (though I don't care).

Unfortunately I can't edit the poll and would have to delete it and create a new one which would lose votes. For those who vote plastic, I think we can safely assume that backlit is desired.

Backlit aluminum is hands down my vote.

For mine, I'll never use it so the metal remotes - backlit or not - are something with a cost but no value.

I'd pay $50 for a backlit metal remote, even though I'll probably never use it. I don't mind wasting money I use a Harmony so the only way I would pay $50 if it was also programmable. the only exception in my house is the Tivo remote. (that fits in the hand like a glove and if RF) For TV viewing everyone else in the house, my self included, likes it better. But for everything else the remotes are in the drawer.

Even though I wouldn't use it because of having a universal, metal is so much classier. I love the metal Emo remotes I've gotten (even though I don't use them). I thought the remote that came with the 7030 was cheesy. Sure, I don't use that one either but just the idea that such a nice piece of gear came with a plastic remote like that doesn't jibe.

Can you add the option like "I don't care"? I use the Harmony Touch. So once setup, I will not use the original remote.

Not just metal but "weapons grade".

Also is this $50 more for the XMC-1, or would it extend to all new products? Going from $2000 to $2050 isn't much for the XMC-1, but $600 to $650 for the UMC-200 might be. I don't need to spend any more for my remote drawer, Harmony or iPad for me.

Metal, backlit and programmable/learning so it could run all my emo gear and charge $150-200 and I'd love that.

I think the metal remote is something which is part of the "trademark" of Emotiva. So leave it like it is. Although I don't use normally as for day to day use I have ab Harmony remote
