Edit: I called back and asked the question about firmware directly. The 2 weeks and 3 weeks statements are in reference to the new units that will ship with the new firmware already installed. The firmware is still looking good and "hopefully will be released by the end of this week."
I thought everyone would like to know, I ordered my UMC-1 today. In the process, I was informed that if I want to wait for the new firmware, it would probably be about 3 more weeks. Since today is April 7th, that puts us into early May at best.
To me, this is no big surprise. I'm thinking it might be a big disappointment to others, though. I would encourage everyone to hold it together, as I don't want to see this thread quickly deteriorate into another complaint-fest. We've already expressed our opinions that some want it now, some are willing to wait. It sounds like the choice has been made, and we're all going to wait. hemster brought up a good point, this was poorly worded. What I meant was that Emotiva has made the decision to release one, big firmware update, not piecemeal updates. So, whenever that firmware ships is when we'll get new firmware, and not before then. It could ship at the end of this week, it could ship in the next hour, and it could ship next month.
If you have any questions about the official status of UMC-1 shipments, firmware or T-shirts, call Emotiva at 615-790-6754 or 877-EMO-TECH (877-366-8324) during the hours of Monday through Friday 8am - 5pm (Central Standard Time), 9am - 6pm EST, 6am - 3pm PST.
I am posting this to share with others, not to instigate griping and more unhappiness.

Thanks for the update. I was called a week ago that my UMC was ready, but I asked them to hold it until it has the lastest FW. They told me it would be a couple weeks. As long as it works when I get it, I can be a little patient for this

Is it possible that the 3 week delay is only for new units? The firmware itself might still be available this week for download but it may take them a few weeks to update the backlog of units thay have to ship out. Just a thought.

Yes, it is entirely possible. I said likely since I am not the definitive source on this topic. That said, I don't think they would sit and load several hundred units with firmware, and then start shipping in 3 weeks. Were the firmware ready at the end of this week, I assume they would start shipping updated units by Monday, one-at-a-time, flash, ship, flash, ship.

Greetings everyone!
Well, a beautiful holiday weekend is upon us. Spring has sprung!! I hope all of you enjoy it with family and friends.
As I mentioned on the web cast today, we are going to release the updated SW this coming week. Don't ask for it Monday, it'll be toward the end of the week! I'll post it officially here first, I promise you!
Everything looks great at the moment. We have tested it exhaustively, and we believe it is ready for prime time.
I'll have more to say here during the week. I've asked Lonnie for an updated listing of all major changes and corrections and he'll have this for us early next week.
Thank you for your trust, support, and patience. Also, I want to thank those of you who have sent me such kind and encouraging personal messages; it is truly appreciated.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Best regards to all, Big Dan

In the webcast they mentioned that a boatload of UMC-1s are imminent. This may mean that they're not at the Emotiva facilities in Franklin, TN yet but are expected within the next week or 2. If so, this could explain the 3 weeks stated above since the units will need to be flashed before shipping to customers. I still think that the FW update will be released later this week. And no, I do not have any inside information!

Because there are just as many people here that would like to know what I was told and form their own opinions and speculations on it as there are that would prefer to only hear official updates. If you don't want to read anything other than official statements, then why did you open this thread? Next time, close your eyes. I think I did a pretty good job of making it pretty clear where to get any official updates from Emotiva and that this is my speculation.

I didn't know about that. Any suggestions? Close your eyes REALLY FAST as soon as you notice what the post is about, maybe?

I'm a little late to the game on this, but is there a proposed/expected list of things included in the FW update that someone can point me to?

The most definitive list is in the update thread: emotivalounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=preamps&action=display&thread=9051 I don't believe the list is all-inclusive, but I think it's all we have to go on right now, unless there was something posted somewhere else.

Cool, thanks. I had seen that, I just didn't know if there was a more finalized list though. I guess I was more up to speed than I thought (unfortunately)...

Great, now the game plan changes. I just ordered an onkyo 886 yesterday and will be here tomorrow. Oh well, if the UMC is finally ready for prime time I will have a 876 receiver and a 886 pre pro for sale!
