^ Yeah but I don't want another test disc, I got tons of those at home with some that claim 5 Hz on their CDs (from Telarc). ...Can you truly get 5 Hz reproduction from a CD???!!! What I want is the real stuff, synthesizers with true 10 Hz bass content and pipe organs with true 16 Hz and with 8 Hz subharmonics! But can you get this from a simple CD recording??? Or a Blu-ray disc??? DVD-Audio??? SACD??? I want the REAL THING, on the right audio format!!! WHERE IS IT??? I wanna rip the walls apart from my entire house!!! I wanna blow all the pipes, crack the cement foundations, have the S.W.A.T. team and the entire USA army at my door!!! The only real stuff (recordings) that I got at home are just FARTS at 22 Hz!!! Or is that stuff (5 Hz) from Telarc real? ...Then I need new subs! ...Because my house is still standing, and I'm disappointed! I wanna see it crash before my own eyes (ears, guts, whatever...)! * By the way, Tom Nousaine, is that guy writes in Sound & Vision, that mag of questionable integrity? Plus their Forums are full of people that post only for posting, but without any knowledge whatsoever about AM/FM radios, even less about razor blades!!! I mean, where this world is going to??? Note --> I appreciate everyone's input, because when it comes to atomic sub low levels in our lifes, we're talking real impact here, where it counts the MOST! ;D Honestly, I have no idea what CD's if any have 5hz material recorded onto them, Ive never really looked into that. I know there are a few threads over at the Shack and AVS that talk about low hz recordings, but I never really perused into em. Ill try and post you a few links later today. I have heard an Earthquake sub fed a test tone from a tone generator @ 16Hz...you can't "hear" anything that low. The driver moves violently and you can feel it... but no sound. No commercial recording can capture that low (or lower) sound output and few people own stuff that would produce it anyways. There is a limit to human hearing... www.earthquakesound.com/supernova15.htmSee, even my camera was shaking!

I had that earthquake sub for a while. Then It started making a ratteling sound that I could not pinpoint. I took it apart and averything. In the end. I got pissed and threw it in the dumpster. Waste of $500 or so. I now run no real sub. Dont need it with as much bass as my towers put out.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I luv talking about Very Low Bass and High Output. Ntrain, yes there are several CDs from Telarc with low 5Hz frequency!!! <<<CAUTION>>> You can easily blow your speakers if played at too loud volume level, please turn the volume down. Yup, I got a dozen of those at home, but I simply don't have the gear to reproduce it, neither the ears (low threshold hearing limit is about 16Hz). But I know I got my two 15" subs running very very hot with these discs! ...Very dangerous indeed! * As for the Bag End Infra-18 Powered Subwoofer, it reached 90dB at 20Hz! Oups! Still excellent though. But the Bag End S-18E reached 86dB cleanly at 16Hz! Wow! That is quite impressive! These are real measurements, made by the one and only true Mr. Boom, the wise sub guru, Mr. Richard Hardesty, previously a writer for Widescreen Review, now a writer for his own High End journal (forgot the name), that is only available from a subscription that is quite expensive from a journal only few pages long and with only few issues released per year (only for the High End hardcore people). QUOTE: --> ["These ELF (Extended Low Frequency) subwoofer systems from Bag End claim flat response down to 8Hz and can produce 110dB at frequencies above 30Hz. Does that mean that they can reach 110db at 8Hz? Wouldn't that require driver excursion and amplifier power that exceeds practical limits? Well, let's see. If the cone has to move one inch peak-to-peak to produce high output at 20Hz, then it will have to move four inches peak-to-peak to equal that output at 10Hz. If 400 watts of amplifier power is required at 20Hz and we have a 12dB/octave lift with decreasing frequency, then we'll need... wow, a REALLY big amplifier! No, the ELF systems have flat response at low levels, but they can't produce high output levels at infrasonic frequencies".] ===> But what these two Bag End subwoofers can play they will do very well indeed. They both are rated from 8Hz-95Hz +/-3dB. They have a special circuit: Built-in 8Hz ELF Dual Integrator with ELF Concealment. Basically what we have here is a no-limit (no compression) low frequency extension in the goal to free the sound in the range that we CAN hear, from resonances and phase shift. Then the subwoofer system can reproduce the bass notes that are actually playing, not the box resonances that other systems tend to emphasize, and the bass can fully integrate and play in time with the rest of the audio spectrum. ~~~ I just tought to add some more additional info to that very interesting subject. Cheers everyone.

Chuck, with all due respect to whoever conducted the test you're quoting, the INF18 sub is capable of 100db @ 8Hz. See above post.

I don't think anyone here is saying that Rhythmik is a bad or poor quality sub, to the contrary. Most, including myself think its a fine product, but there are other subs that certainly are on the same tier and we know which those are.
This has more to do with the zeal in which some try to promote their viewpoint and their favorite product, no matter what the facts (whether real or imagined) might be.
To say that the Rhythmik is "the only one to get if you like music" or " ported subs are no good" just because you think you don't like ported subs is absurd.
Why can't people just agree to dissagree?

The talk about sealed vs. ported has been rehashed countless times already, no need to go over it again in this thread.

He is the last member here IMO (I understand that we are allowed to be opinionated at this forum) who should be lecturing others on proper Lounge "Forum Etiquette."

No Andy, you do not make the rules around here..... Kinda touchy aren't we? What makes you think I was talking about about you? Don't flatter yourself Mr Demagogue.......... Go back to AVS and make an *bleep* out of yourself talking about Dolby Volume. You looked like a total neophyte in that thread........ You my friend, are a mirage...............

Should I rehash your latest post here on the OP's thread? Or a few of your other threads and direct PM's to me about posting "etiquette"? Should I bring up your latest posts and show which "etiquette" rules you broke? Careful of hypocrisy on your part........because you might get stressed out, delete all your posts and close out your membership/username again........

Reread you last post again, your bantering about "ported vs. sealed" and guess what?................That wasn't even brought up in this thread. LOL! Your post was in reality useless. And bringing up the PLIIx post on the AVS here is pretty fruitless as well. Want to start a discussion on that, feel free to start a post on that in an appropriate thread and I'll gladly join in. .......BTW, how do you know that Rythmik makes a "fine product"? You never heard one, so how could you make that assumption? Going off of word of mouth are we? Contradicting yourself on a few of your own past postings it seems.......

Yup, the kids (well, younger people) often behave better than the full grown-up adults. * Example: Sarah, Rachel...

.......BTW, how do you know that Rythmik makes a "fine product"? You never heard one, so how could you make that assumption? He knows from reading all the 247,000 posts from the resident sub guru about Rythmik subs. At least he didn't claim to have owned two of them last summer for a couple months and then sold them because they were mediocre. Or perhaps he knows everything like the sub guru does including why the new Emo subs are just run-of-the-mill like he posted even though he hasn't heard them, (must be word of mouth) : " ...... I haven't heard an Ultra yet, but I can pretty much garentee is going to be a run of the mill typical 12" class D sealed sub that you can find for under $500 a piece. There are alot of these populating the market........... " (direct quote from the sub guru) I think the Rythmik 15 is a very good sub also and perhaps even better than I presumed before because of feedback from a reliable source like Lounge member Accurus. I believe Big Red also has one and is impressed with it. I think the entire line of SVS subs are outstanding subs in their price range due to numerous objective reviews and subjective comments from trusted sources. I am for myself not a big fan of "small" subs like the new Emo subs because of some inherent compromises in maximum performance but definitely understand their strong appeal especially with their reasonable size and weight. That said, I can predict after having read the Emotiva information/photos on them, that they are an excellent value in their category with high quality parts and construction. I see them to be much higher in value than their $500 price. I had the same presumption before buying my Emo speakers and it was right on. Just my opinions. BTW: The only PM's I have sent to members about forum posting etiquette were during my time as a moderator.
