Well I had hoped to have at least one day without being burned at the stake, but I guess that was to much to hope for.

Well I had hoped to have at least one day without being burned at the stake, but I guess that was to much to hope for. Hi Lonnie, So if there was supposed to be different versions of the panel code for the different remotes, what then is the difference between the .13 and .14 decoder codes? As reported in the volume instability thread, I had dreadful results (other than the video) with .13 versus .14 and it would be useful to know if it was a bad flash or if .13 is actually a previous release to .14 and anyone running .13 should actually move to .14. (They should also be able to do that without having to reflash the DSP or do a reset on their settings, per my testing the only setting not kepy was the speaker distances). Thanks! N. (Edit for Typo)

The new loader appears to apply some verification so should probably be used.

I had a similar, but not the same, problem. There is something in the USB driver that latches, so that if you fail once, you can't reconnect without restarting windows completely. I suggest that you power off the UMC-1 (in back) leave it for a minute and then power it back on. At the same time, reboot Windows (not just the program...you must reboot windows). Then give it a try.
May not help, but worth trying once.

I have tried everything I can think of but the USBXPRESS driver will not install properly. Sometimes I get it installed and everything looks fine until I run the update program and then the computer reports it has malfunctioned. I have Windows 7 Professional X64, 12GB memory, an ATI 5850 video card and a Gigabyte motherboard with an Intel i7 950 processor. I've about given up. I have tried running it as administrator, do not have Windows protection turned on, and tried it in windows xp compatibility mode. I have spent about 4 hours doing this. I have also tried emonatics modified install program.

I have also tried emonatics modified install program. Does the install program recognize the UMC-1 is connected? If not, did you try the actual updated drivers from Emonatics? Even if you did, you may not be done. I had to go into device manager and had to update those drivers manually after the install. Others have had to as well. It seems that the install doesn't actually assign those new drivers until you do that. You should have the UMC-1 plugged in and turned on when doing this.

After installing the newest USB driver it shows up as a device that is functioning. Then when I run the updater program the device "malfunctions." When I talked to Eric about the procedure to follow after the new Installer Program was introduced, he said that you must first unintall the old version and then go to the folder the program files were in and manually delete all remaining files and folders. Then, and only then, install the new program. He also suggested following the same procedure with the new USB drivers. After having uninstalled and manually removing all remnants it is safe to install the new Installer Program and new USB Driver. Eric said if you didn't make sure all the remnants were gone you may have problems like you describe you are having. At this point, you may want to make sure you have no folder or files containing either version of the Installer Program and the USB Driver that were used with the Installer; and, then re-install the latest versions of the Installer and the USB Driver. Good luck. If this doesn't work, call Emo's tech support in the morning and have them assist you.

Tried all the suggestions. Now doesn't recognize that its plugged in. I have never gotten the UMC-1 to install nor to appear as a device. The computer never seems to know it's there until I run the Emotiva firmware loader software, then it finds the UMC just fine. (I'm running Win XP Pro on my laptop.)

I just tried to update to v7 from v6beta2, and having lots of problems flashing the DSP code. most of the time it doesn't get past 1%. Whether it be getting stuck at flasherase, or at downloading isp code, etc. If it does get past 1%, it will get to about 30-40%, but thats it. Will show a few retries as it counts up (@5), and then boom, fail overtime.
And yes, I have tried safe mode, multiple usb cables, reinstalling, uninstalling, etc. Really, wtf?!
I'm really frustrated at this point and will have to call emotiva and send it back to them to either get flashed @ emo, or get a replacement.

Dima, a couple of other thoughts..
1) Have you tried the updated USB driver? If not it is available at the emonatics site. 2) Get into task manager and see what else is running. I found it helps disable any extra processes such as virus checker.
Good Luck.. Scott

Yeah, I tried 3.3 as well. No go. My UMC is useless now as it doesn't start anymore just says loading and then restarts... It makes sense since it's in the middle of an update, but at this point I'm stuck. I can't go back to using it the way it was, and now I can't finish the update. Windows 7 x64. The funny thing is the previous updates with same computer were all fine, went off without a hitch (using the old loader naturally). Now, with the new loader it just hates me. Time to call emotiva.

Called Emotiva, and talked to Lonnie (how's that for tech support ). First thing he did was offer me to send the unit in to get reflashed, and promised a quick turnaround. We'll see how it goes, but I feel much better now. Thanks Lonnie!

Nice. You may even get it back with something more than you bargained for.

Well, my UMC-1 died after multiple tries to update. It apparently was a problem with USBXPRESS being incompatible with my computer. I called Monday morning, got some directions but none would work since the driver would not work, neither old or new. Told I would get a label via email and more than two days later I am still waiting I was even told I would get it that day. I am currently without video and music. This is very frustrating. They said they had no refurbished or new ones in stock so they couldn't cross ship so I just have to wait for the label (if I ever get it), ship it back and then wait for them to get it back to me. I could have had it shipped Monday if they didn't claim they would get me a label right away and probably had it back by next Monday. I am quite fed up.
