Sorry to re-post, but does anyone know anything about the release date for the next update? Unless anyone on the board has talked with Big Dan or Lonnie, I highly doubt there is any news to be had. For the most part, the best way to get an answer to your question would be to give them a call. And then let us know. Dave.

I haven't heard anything new regarding the update since Dan mentioned it on 19 August. I would guess we'll here about it in the next podcast (unless it comes out comes out in the next 10 days). Big D/Emo release podcasts?

Well, something happened to my UMC-1 to where it would sometimes lock up in the middle of playing (it would still be running during a movie but none of the controls would work). So I decided to reload the firmware and software. When I try to load the firmware, I get a runtime error on step 5, right after the UMC reboots twice. So, I start the process with the firmware (the first step) and it sends the signal to the UMC to reboot, but after the second reboot it gets the runtime/overflow error. And I can't get passed that.
Also, I tried to just power on the UMC after that, but then on it's own, it reboots twice, then says 'Loading..." and seems to be stuck on the 'Loading..." loop because it's been running that for over a half an hour.
Is there a way to do a complete hardware reset? I suspect the firmware maybe got partially loaded, and now it can't get past that - but that's just my theory right now. Any ideas? I'm running the upgrade program from Windows XP and I loaded the newer USB driver and it communicates with the UMC. It just keeps getting runtime error right at the beginning of the first Firmware load.

Calling EMO support has been extremely helpful for me. Great people that should get you up and going.

Re-dowload the firmware, use a 3 foot shielded USB cable, make sure the PC is plugged into the AC, try a different PC.
If your trying to update two UMCs and they both have the exact same problem, the odds are it's not the UMC.

I called Emotiva and asked to speak with someone that does the firmware installs and I spoke with Joe and really nice guy. I documented his instructions in a new thread and I have my system now working. Alternate Method to Install UMC FirmwareThis will avoid the "Overtime" errors and is the technique used in house to install.

I'm having an issue getting the emotive installer to run, I don't see anything similar posted so looking for some advice.
Windows 7 Home Prem 64bit, fresh windows on new computer. Don't even have anti virus installed yet. Downloaded 64bit win RAR, downloaded the instructions and files from Emotiva. Extract the installer file. So now I run the installer exe file - I'm logged in as an administrator and have tried this with run as administrator option. The installer starts and tells me its looking for installed components. AFter a few seconds a window pops up that says the current program has a problem and windows is going to shut it down. I've tried re downloading the rar file, re extracting it. Emotiva support hadn't seen this issue before, they suggested trying windows safe mode which I've not had a chance to try yet.
I don't normally use windows and this is my first windows 7 experience, so hoping someone on the forums knows a security setting or other suggestion that maybe causing this to fail.

My problem was solved, not sure what happened. I had to install a new mouse driver for seeming unrelated reason and after several reboots I tried again and everything worked fine. UMC 1 is updated and working great.

I'm having the same problem that jraffety described, but nothing works to fix it. I am beyond annoyed. I already set my UMC-1 back to defaults, so not only am I going to have to give up on the latest upgrade, I've lost my previous very laborious, trouble-prone updates and am back to square one.
I'm on Windows 7, never had the installer on this laptop before.
If anybody has a solution for this, please let me know. Thanks.

OK, realized my daughter's laptop is a Windows one, so I borrowed it and was able to do the upgrade. Phew.
The upcoming XMC-1 will not have any of this OS-dependent stuff, thankfully, and episodes like this are a good case for that.

OK, just got done updating my UMC-1, and it was a bit of a pain, until I got it figured out.
For some unknown reason, the UMC-1 absolutely hates my desktop, which is a Intel 2600k build. Wouldn't even recognize the UMC-1, so I never got past that point. Yes, I did go to emonatics, and try all the stuff there, including the usb fixes, nothing worked on my desktop, so lost cause there. Luckily, my wife's laptop did recognize the UMC-1 right away. BTW, both machines are WIN7 64bit.
Tried unsuccessfully to update the flash .upg, kept overtiming, disconnecting, etc. Rebooted into safe mode, same issues. I had plugged the usb from the UMC-1 into the port right next to the charging plugin. Figured WTH, and moved the plug to the opposite side from the charging plugin... voila! Perfect flash first time in the new port.
TL;DR: Keep usb cable from any power cables of any kind during flash. If you have two computers, and both have WIN7, and one doesnt work, try the other one anyway, it may work there.

I am still having an inordinate amount of trouble trying to remedy apparently corrupted firmware in my UMC. I have spent hours trying to re-install the v19( as well as trying to figure what was going on with the UMC and it's weird performance) and I can't even get it close to installing. In fact, I can't even get it to install properly on my laptop, on which I have used to do previous installations. I download the software from Emonatics and it installs (so it says). I can get the loader to show up on screen, but there are no files to install. They don't appear to be anywhere. If I click the button on the loader to acquire the 2 files, they seem to be nowhere. I have tried this procedure several times, checked and cleaned the registry, rebooted, uninstalled the upgrade program, rebooted, all without any success. Running Win Vista, etc. It's the weekend so I can't call Emo (again) until Monday. A search for the 2 files does not seem to return any results.

I now find that I can't even install the package on my Win7 computer: the installation stops working and can't continue. What gives?

I now find that I can't even install the package on my Win7 computer: the installation stops working and can't continue. What gives? Have you turned off any antiviurs or anti-malware programs? Also make sure to log in as the administrator on your computer. I've successfully installed and updated 3 UMC-1s (mine and 2 friends') using my Win 7 laptop so I know it does work.

Jeff
If you find you can't do the install after booting up in Safe Mode you might want to just send the UMC-1 back to Emotiva to have them perform the FW update. This is no charge and they will also totally bench test your UMC-1 while they are at it. Emotiva will even allow you to use their shipping rates with FEDEX to ship it back to Emotiva. One owner PM'd me that is what he did and it only cost him about $15, total to have Emotiva update the FW and send it back.
When I sent my USP-1 back to have the front panel upgraded as part of the fix for the IR remote control code overlap between the USP-1 and the UMC-1, I sent it out on Monday morning and it was back to me on Thurs morning. I would expect similar time frame for you to send your UMC-1 in to have it upgraded. If you can live without the UMC-1 for a couple of days you might want to consider letting them do the work.

I have finally got to a place where I can at least download the files to the UMC, however now I get a Runtime Error 9: Subscript out of range. I have wasted another day doing this. It is absolutely ridiculous how primitive this upgrading process is. I found the Emonatics site download unusable. The Emo download site is better. That is where I finally got the DSP1 and the other file to at least show up.
