I found something for the Wavelength DAC that talks about higher rates and has a driver. You might give it a try. I'm not at home right Now or I would try it myself. You will probably need to uninstall the current driver and device first. www.usbdacs.com/hs24192/hs24192.htmlThis looks promising. I will try it out. Thanks, Dave.

I gets to the point of telling you to plug in the USB cable and turn the device on, but never recognizes the XDA-1.

I also found this, but it says it's a trial and I don't see purchase price. It might be wort a try to see if it even works. www.aqvox.de/asio-usb-e.html

I think Emo should help us out here. If as has been claimed the XDA-1 can accept 192/24 audio from a PC please point us to a USB driver that works and link it on the XDA-1 product page.
Dave.

Based on some information on the web, ASIO4ALL may be the limiting factor to 48kHz. I can not find anything that officially confirms this either way. This may mean that we need to try another ASIO driver. Most DAC's that support 24/96 or 24/192 come with their own drivers. I will hunt around for a universal ASIO driver that is not ASIO4ALL. Not sure how much luck I will have. WASAPI is the other option, but as reported earlier, it has USB problems in Vista. I am going to load foobar2000 on my Windows 7 laptop and try it with WASAPI and a high res file to see what the outcome is. I will report back soon.

Well I just tried some high res files with Windows 7 and WASAPI and it told me that 24/96 and 24/192 are not supported.

th aqvox driver web page states: "!! Attention - before the installation uninstall any true ASIO drivers from your computer. (the ASIO-plugins for eg. Foobar or Winamp are still required as this players do not have a native ASIO-Interface)"
I'm assuming this step wasn't missed. Also there is a troubleshooting section at the bottom of the download page.

I usually use foobar2000 for playing music whether through the UMC-1 or through headphones attached to the Asus Xonar Essence STX in my computer. Occasionally I use VLC media player instead.

Need more info on USB support for the upcoming XDA-1.
Is the USB on the XDA-1 asynchronous? What is the maximum bit rate/sample rate via USB?
Received this answer from Vincent of EMO on October 21 It is Asynchronous support 24 bit 192khz. However you must use 3rd party software and use a dedicated sound card in order to accomplish this. Thanks to Windows and Apples audio management scheme by the way. Their limit is 48khz by the way. I don't understand what this has to do with USB? If you are using a dedicated soundcard, then you are presumably using it's coaxial/optical S/PDIF or AES/EBU digital output into the corresponding non-USB input on the XDA-1. Steve EXACTLY! Therefore the XDA-1 via USB DOES NOT SUPPORT 24 bit 192khz!!!

I don't believe this. I use HRT Streamer II and can play 24/96 w/o any driver. Just plug and play.

Is the HRT Streamer II another name for the XDA-1 ?? No, there are many USB DACs that can play 24/96 using standard Windows or Mac drivers if they have the appropriate USB receiver chip. 24/192 resolutions at this time require third-party software whether embeded on a chip or as a driver loaded on the computer. Steve So then I need to return my XDA-1 and get one of the many other USB DACS since EMO by their very silence is admitting that they either do not have the proper USB chip and/or software to do this.

I am not meaning to diss Vince, but he is not the person you should have been talking to. Eric is the in-house expert on the XDA-1 AND he would the person to ask any technical Q's. I talked with Eric and Lonnie both about three weeks ago and both of them said that the USB port absolutely will handle 24/192. On Windows all you need to do is connect the XDA to a PC with Internet connections and the appropriate drive will automatically be downloaded.
We have a handfull of current owners who verified that they are running the XDA with 24/96 and 24/192 music without incident. Vince has good intentions, but I have found his technical knowledge of Emo products to be lacking. He has given me wrong information several times, that Lonnie later corrected what Vince has told me. Eric recommended Foobar or Media Monkey as apps capable of handling these frequencies.
Contact Eric or Lonnie to get the straight scoop on what and how to accomplish your goals with the XDA.

I would like to know how they are accomplishing it. It is definitely NOT with the USB driver Windows automatically loads when you first hook the XDA up.
