I say be careful where you put your power cord or you might end up with burn in. :-) . . . . Seriously though, I do believe and agree from my own experience that interconnects and speaker cable have their own "sonic signature", and I also own a couple of X-series power cables and although I didn't notice a difference in sound when I added them, I haven't invested the time to do any serious testing/comparisons either. Someday. . . .

I've found that the cable I use from my keyboard to the motherboard on my computer makes a difference (yes, still using a cable and not going wireless, but that's because cable gives more refined lettering; wireless makes the letters have sort of an edge to them and some of the serifs end up missing).
For example, this was typed with a 14 gauge cryo-freezed silver directional electron-specific cable.
This sentence was typed with the standard cable that came with the keyboard.

LOL ;D I think the cryo -freeze did the trick!

I may have to try one of those cords. I have a little extra money now that I've sold my speaker wire insulators. They made a world difference in the sound and all for the better. But whenever I was engaged in some serious listening, one of our cats would come along an tip over one of the insulators. That portion of the speaker wire would then fall 1 or 2 inches and actually touch the carpet! Well, needless to say, the audio disruption was enough to make me jump right out of my seat and totally would ruin my listening experience and took me completely out of the mood. The wife said the cats will stay so the insulators had to go. So now I have to settle for compromised but uninterupted sound quality. Maybe the power cord could restore some of what I lost...

At the risk of angering the PETA folks around here, I've found that cats are an excellent way of discharging static from my cables. I simply tap the cable against the cat (any side of the cat is fine; I haven't noticed any difference between tapping the head or body or left or right side) and you can tell it works from the expression on the cat's face as well as the unique noise it makes. The sound is definitely improved as well.

I've always found it interesting that people buy these thinking they help. Why does the Emo cable improve anything and why is the last 3 or 6 feet of the ride important when you don't change everything in the wall including the outlets, wall wiring, meter contacts and wiring all the way to the transformer??
Its almost like putting six feet of glass lined pipe on your fawcet and now you are expecting the water to taste better........ WUT?

Every time I pick up the cable I can't find the one I used before so I have to use a different one. This weekend I am going to try out different colors, ages and also hair length to see if that makes a difference but as far as a breaking in period, I guess I am going to have to put leashes on the cats or keep them in a box or something.

If one lives in a rural area where the high tension power lines carry the power through open fields then they have less of a need for special power cables because the the power reaching their house is more natural and cleaner - compared to those who live in a city where the power lines travel past buildings and highways and smoke stacks etc.

Once again this forum does as it will always do to bash the idea that something like a PC, IC etc could make a difference. With the attitude you guys have its not just about making jokes, no rather I would feel that if I was new and read this, that the whole idea of even wanting to try it out would be dumb and blah blah blah.
Yet again, why aren't you using pro audio amps and speakers? Everything sounds the same right? Something couldn't possibly make a difference...
A pro audio amp sure does cost less then an XPA-1, hell you can get it for around 400 bucks or so and put out a crap ton of power. You guys are doing it all wrong.
Yet anytime someone wants to introduce the concept of doing a PC swap, etc a whole group likes to come in and say its stupid for someone to spend their money etc. Who the hell cares, its not your money.
Tweaking and changing things out is one part of the hobby that can be very fun. Why not try and encourage people to try something. Even if you don't believe in it, doesn't mean that the other person can't find happiness.
Oh let me guess your trying to help them spend less money, hmmm.
Maybe you should then put down that 5 dollar burger, go get something off the dollar menu. OR better yet you don't need that vacation, stay home for a change. See I'm telling you want to do with your money.
Why are you buying a expensive car, your dumb, your wasting money, that money could be better spent on your retirement, or your children, see I can tell you what to do with your money, and most don't like it, nor will they do it, so why the hell does this have to be different in this hobby.

That's fine. At least it looks nice, and is probably of much higher quality. Since you say that you don't need anything else right now, a nice power cord is good buy IMO.

Now I'm not ruling out having a upgraded power cable doesn't improve your sound. But I'm thinking you need to spend upwards of $500 to achieve that. At least you didn't have to spend anything...
