I had a glass from my infinity bottle, and it was quite nice. Since I mostly drink bourbon, the smoky from a couple of Islay scotches is not really noticeable. Now it is not as good as a high dollar scotch, but it is interesting to drink because it is always a little different.

About 20 years ago a co-worker knew I was going to Japan with Noriko for a visit. She happens to be from the city of Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture, with the huge Nikka distillery. He had me buy for him a bottle of Nikka Yoichi single malt. Over $50 back then. I know zero about scotch. The Japanese just call it whiskey. He informed me that the Japanese make some of the best scotch in the world. Nikka and Suntory are two of the well known brands. Wow what a great free tour we had there. All first class! www.nikka.com/eng/distilleries/miyagikyo/www.nikka.com/eng/brands/singlemalt-yoichi/

My best bud Chris and I are usually bourbon drinkers, though I will have a scotch or other whiskey pretty often. He and I both came to the conclusion that Evan Williams Bottled in Bond is our baseline bourbon. More than an everyday drinker, it is what we measure other bourbons by. Take my JTS Brown bottled in bond, very reasonably priced and from Heaven Hill, a fine distillery, but it is not as smooth and enjoyable as EW BiB. He has a bottle of Booker's that we occasionally take a glass of, and it is grand. It should be as it costs about 4 times as much as EW BiB.
Any of the rest of you have a benchmark spirit like that?

Wow, I bet that Guinness tastes like Guinness used to taste! It came in a 200 year commemorative case. I bought a few cases. ALL were excellent. Very high alcohol content in 2 of them. Only 2 bottles left.

Just came back with a case of Corona and my guests tonight will probably bring wine.
Looking forward to some fellowship time and talking about whatever topics arise.

Since HS I will ALWAYS remember to NEVER drink beer and wine on the same night.

Of course we have lime. Am I perceived as so uncivilized? Right, and I've also been told to not mix colored liquors with clear....... I avoid hard liquor because I don't tolerate it much. Sneaks up on me when least expected. I like to drink for the taste and foo foo drinks with hard liquor like Long Island Iced Teas take me by surprise. Here's another tip when drinking, don't argue with wife especially in front of company when influenced under alcohol. Not suggesting you can't hold your alcohol but ya know........ one should be concerned for their own personal safety as well as others.
