how about a two sentance description of what the XSP is for a newer guy here? I'm guessing a full featured pre-amp with the DAC capabilities of the XDA? or am I way off here?
thanks in advance!

That's good to know jerrin. Thanks a bunch! I too am quite excited about the XMC-1, but nowhere near as much as I am about the XSP. I'm definately more of a 2 ch. guy and the XSP-1 will serve my needs beautifully. What month does emofest usually take place?

That's right theilguy. Plus L/R balanced sub outs etc. Check out the "older entries" in the "news" tab at the website for good pics.

Thielguy, The XSP-1 will not have a DAC in it. It will be an analog preamp only. Please see this early info on it. emonatics.com/XSP-1.shtml

It probably will be this year as well, but too early to say for sure. I'd going to be there for sure again this year. Hopefully my family and I will be able to move to Franklin permanently in a few months. *crosses fingers*

No luck for us from overseas in attending emofest. Hopefully the facility being talked about in the UK will decrease shipping cost

'DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN PRE-ORDER WILL START FOR THE XSP-1??? I CAN'T STOP DROOLING!!!' As a 40 year veteran of this business, I have to say; 'Good things come to those who wait'. I know of NO manufacturer who has ever released a 'Quality' product exactly on time. The biggest problem most companies face are parts shortages and production delays. Emotiva is a very small fish in a very big ocean when it comes to orders against the Denons and Pioneers of this world. What they should actually be commended for is refusing to compromise unit integrity by using less expensive components, therefore changing product delivery dates. Please be assured that this is truly an exception to the rule, not the normal way of doing business today of the mainstream manufacturers. Is it an 'inconvenience' for those of us anxiously awaiting the arrival of 'Musical Nirvana'? Perhaps. But Good things come to those who wait. I too am also 'waiting'... Happy Listening!

Good news from Lonnie. I just got off the phone from talking with Lonnie about the XSP-1. The XSP-1's design is locked and is being produced. He said that he will have Rachel take photos of the Production Version and post them here on the Lounge, along with a complete features and spec listing. All of you who have been drooling over this sweet preamp better put your "bibs" on while viewing the release materials for the XSP-1.
Yippee! I can hardly wait to see all the goodies this baby has built into its design. I am anxious to see how close my predictions have been. Break into your piggy banks and get ready to send your money to Emotiva. ;D ;D

What I find so irksome is the lack of response from Emotiva to this question on the forum.

Well the design of the unit was finished a long time ago and we have several units here that are working really, really well. So you are probably asking yourself "Why haven't you released it then?" The answer to that is really simple, everyone is expecting this to be great, not just really good. So Ray is going through it with a fine tooth comb making little tweaks here and there to squeeze out every bit of performance out of it we can. Once we are sure it has been taken as far as it can, then it will immediately go into produciton. We just don't want to rush it into production and it not meet everyone's expectations. So it is coming and I hope to be cutting it loose very soon.

Since reading your post a few minutes ago I have been trying to recall who he is, and I am coming up blank. I think I have heard his name mentioned in one of the recent pod-casts, but other than that I am at a loss as to who Ray is. Can we assume he has come aboard to help lessen the load you have been carrying? -- I truly hope so. I would like to know more about him, and I am sure other Lounge Members would also like an "Introduction" to Ray. We would like an opportunity to welcome him to the Lounge.

Before I plunk my money down for it I'm going to need confirmation the tape monitor loop functions as such. The USP-1 was a disappointment for me in that regards.
cheers ken

I have to say that I am so thankful that Emotiva exists in this day and age of mass-produced audio "clutter". The fact that you guys take the time to really care about what you are producing proves to me that in the audio world, Emotiva is second to none. I know I'm an impatient S.O.B., but that doesn't mean that I don't respect and definitely appreciate the time that you are taking to make the XSP-1 the best it can be. Thanks again! STILL DROOLING!! hahaha!

The fact that there is such a closeness between the manufacturer and us users is the reason that we are so impatient! If it was any of the mass-producers, you normally don't get as excited long before, because most of the time we only know about products long after design has taken place

The XSP-1 will sell for $899, but will have an introductory price of $799. kmi, rest assured that the XSP-1 will be blessed with a "real" tape monitor loop. I believe Emo calls it an External Processor Loop. You can find a photo of the prototype shown at last year's Emofest with the link below. www.flickr.com/photos/emotiva_audio/5183055658/sizes/o/in/set-72157625404032906/Hopefully, Rachel will have updated photos of the production version any day now -- along with a complete features and specs list.

I was hoping to not spend more than $600. Do you really think it's worth $799 versus other preamps?
Roadrunner I just saw your PM recently and hadn't had a chance to respond to it, I will soon, I have questions for you.
