I think the amount of blue Leds that are on my complete Emotive system is just to much for me and my eyes. I also have the 12v trigger unit and the leds are so bright it hurts my eyes. Leds in moderation is OK. I think a little less on the Emotiva gear would be very nice. I will post a photo and you tell me if you agree or not.

Blue Leds are nice. I just think my system has to much and would look better with less. I had my USP in my HT when I first bought it, but due to the overwhelming brightness of the LEDs I pulled it out and it is now the foundation of my 2 channel system. If you could dim the lights or if it would do HT passthrough while turned off I would buy a 2nd one in a heartbeat, for now I will just have to wait and see what the XSP has to offer.

The blue halo on the USP-1 has got to go. It illuminates a dark room like a night light. The individual blue LEDs are okay--it would be better if they were dimmer or dimable. I can see where a pulsing type dimmer could be a noise source. In that case why would you want any LEDs anywhere near your audio equipment... unless you look at it more than you listen to it.

Here's McIntoshs little blue light. I know Ive posted this before but its so funny. No one would ever complain about this amp. It makes enough lumens for a headlight :-) It is defeatable though. But why would Mac go through all of this design with the big mofo meter and backlighting so you will just turn them off... Kinda like gettin a Big Mac and scraping off the special sauce :-)

Maybe it's because some people enjoy listening to music without the distraction of carnival lights? We know that others "love" the bright blue lights--hey, maybe that's because they mainly listen to caliope music!
In any case, kudos to the Binghampton boys for including that knob on the left side!

Or you could just close your eyes while listening to music , I know I know it doesn`t help when watching a movie

If you are using Emotiva pieces without the blue halo/motorized volume control you may not be getting the full effect--the blue light goes through closed eyelids! Please don't suggest Ray-Bans.

Admittedly, it's got plenty of blue LEDs.

I broke down a few minutes ago, and put black electrical tape over my power buttons. Much much better! I can't believe I didn't do this a long time ago. We'll see how it looks during the day tomorrow, but under the living room lights they just look like black buttons now. I hate having to do that, but it's a lot better now.

Pauly, stickers don't leave any residue, not like electrical tape or duct tape. And you can get some really nice ones, from the One Dollar store. ___________________ * The black cotton material strips (very light) that I use are attached by small magnet stickers that you can cut from a sheet (One dollar store). And they let the infrared signals from my Harmony remote pass through. {The black strips are attached to the wood frame of the TV/Audio rack, not the amps, or other components.} => And it takes one second to remove and two seconds to reattach! ...Perfect for Movie watching at night time!

So you basically cover up the whole faceplate with the cotton strips?
