No 3D is not here to stay. I frankly don't care about any of it. I just know the TV I'm getting for the bedroom with more than likely have 3D but that feature will never be used...unless the gf decides she wants to try it out, which I won't be around as I can't stand it! Not even for the 3D porn? ;D

There are 2 reasons that have prevented me from buying a 3DTV, in addition to many of the reasons already listed.
1) Over the last two year period, I have bought 5 HDTVs. I am not going to resell them or give them away after paying so much for them.
2) The brand exclusive 3D releases are serious BS. Panasonic and Samsung both have exclusive titles if I recall and there may be others. Having to overcome the hurdle of a recent explosion of HDTV sales, this was the last thing they should have done. I have heard the studios were the ones that initiated this, not the hardware vendors.
I may experiment with 3DTV if there is a computer option, but otherwise, it will be a good 4 years for me.

Content is king and the sooner these twits realise they need to make low priced quality content available digitally and on disc GLOBALLY the better for them (IMO of course).

Just think what would happen if they came out with a ton of 3D movies just before the hardware/players/TVs did, creating demand ???the other way around what a concept

Ah, but the flaw there is: "That would make sense".

YES! 3D is here to stay and evolve! Right now it's a pity, but give it another ten years or so...

Bob, if you really believe that in 10 years an existing but barely mature technology will still be around, then you're deluding yourself. There'll be much more out by 10 years from now. I'm thinking holographic technology wherein the viewer gets to interactively partake in the movie. Remember, you heard it here first! ;D

If 3D porn starts filling the local adult bookstore shelves, I predict that 3D will become much more desireable to Joe six pack. Look what it did for Blu-Ray.

I can just imagine the preamble notice at the start of the movie: "This 360° motion picture is brought to you in feel-a-rama" ;D

I checked the latest Panasonic 3D, while yeah its a gimmick, it was actually pretty good. Just don't want to wear glasses. Just isn't comfortable for me, maybe with 3D gaming I might not mind maybe. Duke Nukem 3D Forever. Yeah right.

Wow Vince, this thread is almost 6 weeks old! By the Lounge standards it belongs to the prehistoric 3D era! ;D * They'll have 3D contact lenses real3d soon, so you'll feel pretty light & comfy with those.

And you need another type of special glasses for people who cannot wear contact lenses but only prescription glasses, like me! - Because I had an eye injury in the past that scratched my iris for life! And laser cannot replace missing tissues, just yet! 3D is all about vision, eyesight; and no two people have the same eyesight, same set of eyes! Same for Audio; no two set of ears are exactly the same! Yes, I too have very poor eyesight requiring glasses rather than contacts. The requirement of glasses to wear over glasses is only part of my antipathy towards 3d though.

This 3D being rehashed again. Jeez I remember in the 50s it was going to take over butttttt we see what happened. I am not that impressed, very few movies really benefit from it IMHO.

But since I got my Samsung 3D plasma TV with 3D active-shutter glasses, I am amazed on how they fit perfectly over my prescription glasses! I guess they were designed with that in mind. -> 3D is the coolest thing since striped zebras! Bring it on in mass quantities! The real 3D movies filmed with 3D dual lens cameras! I'm all converted and I just luv it!

I know quite a few people with glasses and none have any problems with the 3D that they have told me about. When it's done right, it's pretty cool beans!

It ain't perfect yet! For that you need to invest about $50,000 to $85,000 with PRO 3D projectors (Runco, Digital Titan Reference 3D projector, Stewart Filmscreen's Director's Choice screen, SIM and the gang). ...Or go to a good 3D Imax Theater. The magic number is 144fps (or 192fps) refresh rate true multiple of 24fps or 48fps (coming soon). And no bull 3:2 pull down, but true real 4:4, 5:5, 6:6, 6:4, and 10:10 pull down; without frame's interpolation. If you read all there is to 3D done properly, it is a very fascinating world into the third visual dimension, with two high resolution eyes! No flickering, no ghosting, no lines interpolation, no trails, no restricted angles (vertically and horizontally), no nothing wrong,... but when everything would be done right for our homes and the prices in touch with reality, then this brand new world is IT! E.T. Go Home!
