Hi All,
Greetings from beautiful Franklin, TN!
I thought I'd take a moment to bring you all up to speed on all things processor related in order to give you a clear understanding of the product path we are on, and the status of the various processor projects.
1. The UMC-1 will continue to be produced through 2012, at minimum. In order to keep the platform up to date we have decided to add 3D capability. Along with automatic 3D content sensing and support, the unit will feature a true hardware HDMI bypass mode for the first time. All other features of the UMC-1 will remain the same. The new (higher) price will be officially announced in January 12'.
In the interim, we are clearing our existing UMC-1 inventory in anticipation of the new 3D enabled model. This is an incredible time to purchase a UMC-1, if (like me) 3D is not something you care about! All purchases come with the Processor Upgrade Certificate which is good towards a 40% discount on the new XMC-1 or any other future models. (sorry, cannot be applied towards the UMC-1 3D)
2. For our customers who want to add 3D capability to their older UMC-1's, it will be made available as a factory installed update for $199.00. Customers will be able to order this update as of the first of the year.
3. We are preparing a major SW update for the UMC-1! This update will address all known and reported bugs that we have been able to document to date. We have been working very diligently for several months to verify and confirm all issues discovered internally and reported to us. Where we have verified a problem, we have worked to address it and correct it.
4. The XMC-1 development continues at a very nice pace. We are making great progress and nearing completion of the platform. In order to avoid disappointing anyone, and more importantly to be sure that the XMC-1 meets the performance and reliability standards we expect of ourselves, and that you rightly deserve, we have made the decision to remain relatively "quiet" until we are 100% satisfied with the unit and ensured that all details are finalized. There has been a lot of speculation on the capabilities and performance of this new model; all I can tell you is that we are putting everything we have into this new platform. It will be an exceptional product in all respects.
Those of you attended Emofest will be able to see the XMC-1 in person, but we are not ready to publish the official specifications and product details at this time.
There are several digital audio products in early stages of development that we are unable to talk about at this time, but I can assure you that Emotiva is totally committed to this product area and we have built a very solid and capable team in order to support our product vision. We intend to continue to provide high quality, audiophile performance audio products at incredible values.
I also want to make it very clear to current and future owners of Emotiva processors that we will continue to support your hardware and refine the software of our products as needed. We have absolutely no intention of leaving this product category just because we are having a sale. Anyone who has visited our company can attest to the investment we have made in engineering, physical facilities, and advanced test equipment to support this effort.
All of us at Emotiva wish to thank you for your support, loyalty, and trust. It is truly appreciated; please know that it is our intention to honor your confidence in our company by doing everything we can to support our commitments to you.
I'm looking forward to seeing many of you in just a couple of weeks!
Warmest regards to all,
Big Dan
