Was reading your old post on purchasing a receiver, did you notice the jump in sound quality as a whole when adding the XPA-5 as I did when I added my UPA-1 mono's to my Yamaha RXV-1065, not that the Yamaha was total crap but I'm still steamed to think I paid a discount price of $750 for my Yammy. My RX6 towers actually had life in them when I connected the UPA-1's and now I've moved on to the UMC and a UPA-500 for surrounds and I am not looking back that's for sure. By the way the black trim looks killer on the XPA-5, I wouldn't mind changing my Emo gear to all black but I would have to order 5 sets of 2RU and that would be a little pricey for me....hah Here's my Emo setup Attachments:

Sweet setup, creimes! Love your layout, too. Good to see those trusty UPA-1s powering systems across the world. I think that amp was one of Emotiva's best. Thanks for sharing!

Thx, it's not the prettiest rack but was cheap and quick to make, 5/8 Threaded rod with steel tubing to cover rod between shelving and 2pcs of 20x36'' pine shelving from Home depot cut in half to make 4pcs 20x18 for the shelves.

Thanks creimes for the compliment. I really like the all black as it goes a little better with the Onkyo. I notice quite a difference with music adding the XPA-5. Like you said it adds a little more life to the track. On songs such as Time by Pink Floyd the midrange is improved and I can "feel" the drumming of the toms dance from side to side in front of me more noticeably as an example. The soundstage opened up a little more from my experience and and there is a little more oomph.
Another song I really enjoy is Crime of the Century by Supertramp. From the subtle opening to harder louder passages then back to being subtle really comes through very clear, smooth and powerful when the time comes. The sax in the end really sounds nice.
The 809 has a few useful features I like and my previous receiver was a Yamaha RXV 1800 which I should have kept for other uses. Always wanted an Emo amp. Started with the XPA 3 before getting the 5.
I enjoy the XPA-5 and has been a great addition to my setup. Next will be a dedicated processor sometime but pretty content for now and enjoying it for both movies and music.

Fire dragon, that tv looks very nice. I like the rack setup. Everything in one central spot. Thanks garbulky. I built the entertainment center myself. I had to, could not find one under $100 that would fit the width of my center channel speaker, so I built one for $91. Going to have to modify it when I get the Def Tech Center 8080 and my XPA-2. Once we have complted the HT, all eletronics will be in a rack in the closet.

The Motorola PVR, or DVR HAS TO BE better than the 'Scientific Atlanta' garbage that Comcast sticks too many of us with! That SA stuff is clunky, cheaply built, and fails often,...("Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how'd you like the play? ).

Funny, Cisco Systems bought SA a number of years ago and I haven't seen a cable box with the SA name on it for three or four years now. I am wondering what Comcast is offering here and how up-to-date is their product line?
