Hi all Have been looking at some of the rooms here, they are quite wonderful, so I thought I would post my humble room here in Adelaide, South Australia. I have a UMC-1 and XPA-5 as well as other pieces of equipment. The speakers are made here in Adelaide by a company called KRIX. I have the Lyrix Gold as my LR, KDX Centre and Equinox as my surrounds. Cheers D Attachments:

Hi there is an easier way to post multiple pictures if you have a flickr or photobucket account. BTW, I really like the finish on your krix speakers.

Here is a quicky couple of photos showing the newest stuff since the XDA arrived. The two outside subs are Emo Ultra 12's. I will try to get better images later. First Photo is where the movies and music are second, well you know.... The B&W speakers in the corner have been replaced. While not quite up to most of the systems on here, there should be another update next weekend.

While not quite up to most of the systems on here, there should be another update next weekend. What are you talkin about! Your setup looks great! As I try to tell myself, this hobby isn't a competition, it's all about what makes us happy. Much like "The Princess Bride" makes me happy. ;D Again, nice setup!

OK, my turn. Naked drivers, how seductive. I normally keep the grills on for protection. In this shot, my back is right up against multi-shelf storage racks, so this is as wide-angle as I can go. A top-down shot of my Rythmik Audio F15SE servo subwoofer. One visitor thought it was a refrigerator at first. Audio rack and custom-built HTPC/workstation. Close-up of audio rack. Shameless plug. ;D "Emo-blue" cold cathode behind subwoofer. My iPhone doesn't like low-light, but you can get the gist of everything lit up. It looks much better in person. I am very happy with everything I've purchased over the past year. Equipment in my sig. The only planned* upgrades left to do are: - upgrade my back surrounds to match my sides. I'm using some old Onkyo bookshelves until I can get around to ordering another pair of HTM-200 SE from Ascend.
- finally purchase the XMC-1 whenever Emotiva calls me from the red telephone.
- purchase an announced upgrade for my Sierra-1 bookshelves. David Fabrikant (the designer) has something special planned for the Sierra-1 loudspeakers...hopefully available within the next 6 months.
I would love to treat my room acoustically, but my current living arrangement kind of prevents any permanent fixtures. I'll research this option further down the road. *planned: verb; Meaning #1: to arrange or decide in advance Meaning #2: influenced by time and fate; often causing heartache to audio enthusiasts when they see something else better they need want. Last, but not least, here is my bedroom setup (equipment in sig):It sounds great. While I was taking these pics this weekend, I got to thinking that my bedroom setup is worth more (and sounds better) than most of my friends primary systems! I think my sister said it best: "You are a little obsessed." Can't argue with that. The 12-gauge speaker wires are a bit of an eye sore, but I have plans for that. I just haven't got around to stripping the replacement cable yet. The stands have two channels inside for routing cables, so it will be hidden eventually. Thank you for your time! EDIT: added more info. EDIT 2: updated bedroom pic with new ERC-2.

Love that Logitech!
I had a similar setup: logitech--xda1--upa1(s)--speakers and ran it for a long time. The sound quality was pretty amazing.
In the (perpetual) hunt for better sound, I came across a bunch of articles that discussed controlling volume in the digital domain on the DAC and/or the Logitech and the issues the binary math introduces in the process.
On a bit of a whim, I put a pre-amp in the path and used it to control the volume instead of the xda-1. It made a HUGE difference (much better bass extension, bass control, more open mids and highs, and a _really stable image_. Seriously. I feared a preamp was going to be a waste of money since a good preamp should really add nothing and be pretty much invisible, but the difference in signal the AMP now receives compared to what came off the xda-1 elevates my system to the level of "crazy nice".
Borrow a preamp (a good one) from a friend and put it between the DAC and the AMP and see if you agree.
