Other than just the hassle of it all, I can't stand the shenanigans by other moviegoers. Despite the warnings, people have their phones on, cough and splutter or pass by in front of me, stand up, talk, babies cry, parents make a fuss, etc. etc. Life is so much more serene in my HT at home! ;D

My son and I go once in awhile primarily as a chance for us to get out and spend some time together. We saw Mission Possible 4 a couple weeks ago. We both thought the previews were better than the movie. Same here. I try to take out the older boys one on one to a movie about once a month or every other month. Just some time to bond and treat them to a dinner.

Same reasons I don't go. People are rude when out in public. For me one of the worst issues is snacking during the movie, makes me feel like I am in a barnyard with a bunch of cows waiting to get milked chewing their cuds. Plus at home, pause, do what I want and need when I want to, play life goes on.

More than likely. It's not a requirement. I'm sure it will be in 2D as well. Yeah, 2D and 3D at the Cinema Theaters. ...And then on 3D Blu-rays. Which is one of two reasons that I didn't buy the latest offering of the 6 movies on BD. They'll be out in a year or two in 3D and, likely, more/different features/additions.

We go to the cinema often, assuming there is anything worth a damn on the big screen. Our last few on the big screen were the new Sherlock Holmes, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo remake, and Scorsese's latest Hugo. All quite good.

1996 Mars Attacks!! My feet were stuck to the floor from 1400 spilled soft drinks and theater (almost brand new) smelled like vomit...
I watch my movies at home....

I can't remember the last movie I saw at the theater. Maybe " The Chronicles of Narnia".

Just a week or two ago, just before I got the system entire set up and tuned up. It's such a hassle and it's so dang expensive!!! I like to have some popcorn and a drink when I am watching a movie and that will cost you as much or more than you paid to get in the door! It's much easier, and cheaper, to watch movies at home. Plus, I make much better popcorn and the seating is a LOT more comfortable here.

For those of you reporting terrible experiences: do you go to cinemas in malls? I've never had such terrible experiences, neither in Cali nor here in AZ. But I never go near a mall either.

I just returned from Underworld: Awakenings in the 3D IMAX theater. I would've chosen the non-3D but only one time was being offered for that. The way this one ended, there will most assuredly be a 5th. All in all, a very good movie, and Ms. Beckinsale didn't disappoint this movie goer! ;D

I try to go to theaters that the kiddies and hood-rats don't frequent. I like to be able to enjoy my movie.

I go to the 5 p.m. or earlier shows because I'm a cheap a$$. They're also the cleanest at that time.

Yep, can't beat matinee pricing. We hit the first showing, and during a weekday.

The theaters around here with matinee pricing do not have stadium seating; I love stadium seating.
The one we went to last week is only a few years old, in a new upscale outlet center (skating rink during winter in the central plaza). Except for the stores themselves, it's all outdoors. So, nobody's hanging out outside unless they're shopping, or, in the evening, going for a bite and the movies.

A lot of shopping centers are going to an "outdoor" mall concept. Unfortunately the ones around here all have parking in the middle/in-between the store fronts.

My son and I try to go no earlier than 3rd week of a release and a matinee showing. Local theater is always light on people with average being 5-10 total watching with us at any given time. This complex is a standalone (not attached to a mall) and is very modern so experience has always been excellent. It also helps that since he hit his teen years we no longer have to go to the kid flick's. That really helps as well. I agree that it is more expensive (unless you factor in the $40K I spent on the HT then I am still averaging $40 or more per showing at home.

Give us something to drool over!
