Wow, tht's quite a jump from KW to Chicago!! Carter's is doing very well with all the craziness around the 2nd amendment!!! Me, I get all mine online and avoid the tax and markup.... ;D Yeah, but you can't shoot a REAL gun on the Internet. The outdoor range is why I miss CC! Nothing like it in the Chicago area, unless you go down by Kankakee. But I always know what I want before I buy it. Have either touched it or shot it or both. I hate buying retail at b&m stores anymore!!! ;D

I would have been within the last month to see John Carter, but other activities led us to not go. Based on the reviews...glad that other things got in the way!
And the time before that was within the last 6 months, and we tried to go see one movie and had a mixup on what theater to go to. End result...we saw "Chipwrecked". Cute, but...if only other activities had gotten in the way of that.

So after nearly a year and a half, we went out to the theater to see Avengers as part of our anniversary celebration. The movie was great, but I am still not impressed with the theater experience. The movie was to start at 4:00 and we got there around 3:30 and had to stand in the lobby till 3:50 to be let in. Then when 4:00 came we had to sit thru no less than 20 minutes of previews and advertisements. The tickets were okay at $8.50 each for the 3D viewing. Bottled water costs $5.00! A small popcorn and a small soda would be $11.50 after tax. So for a family of 4 that would be a little over 45 bucks and that doesn't count the price of admission! Thats about what our dinner bill was before tip at a nice restaurant.

Wife and I went yesterday to see "Dark Shadows" not the best movie I have ever seen, but not the worst either.

I took my Son to see The Avengers. $18.50 for two 3D tickets $11.50 for a large popcorn and pop. It was a mid week matinee, so only 12 people in the theater. Great movie for the genre.
My kid had the best time ever. He is almost six and is starting to be able to "stay with the program" for the length of the show. This is a good movie to keep a kid's attention without doubt. Lots of violence, but it is very stylized uperhero on superhero violence, so I justified it that way to myself. We talked about violence before the show some as well.
It will be a great BluRay. The soundtrack and effects are very good IMHO
Thirty bucks for an afternoon is not cheap, but it was money well spent.

The last time I was in a movie theater it was in West Yellowstone Montana. Its an Imax theater and it shows only a few films - one of which is 'Yellowstone'. Some friends and I were on our way back from Sturgis in 1995 and decided to 'tour' Yellowstone for a few days. One gal had the idea of checking out the Imax theater near the entrance to the park. It was awesome!
Before that? I think it was somewhere in the late 70's before home VCR/Beta Max became standard issue in homes. I can't even remember the film. I do remember the best movie I ever saw in a theater - 2001 A Space Odyssey. Kubrick was The Master!

I seem to remember 2001--A Space Odyssey in a theater many years ago. If I remember it kind of confused me and seemed like a movie to watch if you were high. I think there was another movie a few years later called 2010 or something, but I do not remember that one at all.

Took my son to see "The Avengers" last Tuesday. Tuesdays are $5 movie days at Regal Cinemas, plus I usually get a $2 popcorn reward with my Regal card. Carry some candy in our pockets and I can keep the night under $20!

Went to see a 12:30pm show of Dark Shadows in 2D with my wife yesterday. We both enjoyed the movie, very funny and looked surprisingly good "pq" wise. I guess with all the home theater building going on they needed to upgrade their theaters with all the latest technology money can buy. I may even concider going back this weekend to watch "BattleShip" ;D

Saw the The Avengers on Sunday...but at $16.50 per ticket for 3D (not even Imax...which is $18:50/ticket) it was tough to swallow. I love going to the movies, I make good money, but at these stupid prices I just can't justify doing movies on regular basis, and they keep raising it.
BTW..if you were wondering, I am in So. California.

Took the wife to see The Avengers 3D for mothers day great movie and the 3D wasn’t bad ether. The wife and I try to go at lest once a year but it really depends on how many good movies are made that year so far this year it’s been twice and I plan on going to see Prometheus in 3D soon too

Went to the theater tonight (just got back) and saw "Ted". A truly crude, 'over the top' movie with ZERO likeable characters in it. A few funny bits with the foul mouthed, pot smoking, cocaine snorting, constantly insulting Teddy Bear - but not worth the $10.50 a head plus $10 for popcorn & a Coke. Save your money. I go to the theater a couple times a year (it used to be a lot more often before I got the HT set up), but was reminded once again why I prefer to watch movies at home: - Cell phones - Sticky floors - People talking - Lazy selfish slobs who leave their garbage all over and don't bring it out with them and throw it away afterward. This problem has become MUCH worse in recent years! (who raises these people anyway???). - People texting all over, you can see the glow of these things all over the place, (didn't they pay to come and SEE the movie?). I guess I'm just becoming an old fuddy-duddy (sigh)... Attachments:

You might be an old fuddy-duddy, but at least you're an old fuddy-duddy with some common sense and courtesy
