Sorry about hijacking the thread. I will stop now. ;D No problem. I'm a motorcycle rider as well. So no harm done

garbulky, I can see where you're coming from, but I've tried ground loop isolators/defeaters and they didn't work. They cured the hum in my speakers but not the hum from my XPA-5's tranny. But the CMX is cheaper than the Hum Buster and some other options, and it even matches the Emo amps, so I figure why not give it a shot. It is a little too expensive though imo, so I'll wait for a big sale or buy one used. In that case, it might work for you! Stupid question, what do you mean by the hum in the XPA-5 exactly? You mean the transformer hums due to voltage fluctuations? Does emotiva have a fix for it? If they use the same parts, I would be worried that the CMX-2 might hum doing the same thing! Maybe checking with Lonnie before purchase would be a good idea. That's just it. This CMX-2 is supposed to be the fix for the transformer humming from DC offset on the AC power line.

As I understand it, the toroidal transformers produce an audible mechanical hum if DC hitches a ride on the AC line. Ground loop hum is a problem found in the loudspeakers, but not from the transformer itself. Thus, the CMX addresses a problem with "dirty" AC service to your equipment. The purity of the AC service is highly variable in certain parts of the US and even more so in Europe. Dirty AC service can be a pain to remedy and it interferes with the enjoyment of distortion free sound. This product provides a means of eliminating the contamination imparted by DC being present on the AC line.
Some of the competing vendors' solutions run several times the price of the CMX. Some are even in the thousands of dollars. For people with clean electrical service have little need for this product, but for people who do have "dirty" power this is an aggressively priced solution. Plus you get an heavy duty extension cord in the bargain, with heavy duty outlets.

Yeah, if it actually eliminates my tranny hum from my XPA-5, it will be worth it. Hopefully I can grab one marked down for the 4th of July sale. Can't wait! I've been battling transformer hum for quite a while, and it will be a great relief when it's gone.

In Vietnam the sappers were the Viet Cong who used to toss satchel charges into the barracks of US troops.
In the US the future wannabe sappers are those young teenagers who throw M-80's (giant firecrackers) into the big blue and green mail boxes.
(I know all of this because I used to work for the US Army and also the USPS)
;D ;D ;D

Very dissapointed with Emotiva !! - no support for 220V users ? did Emotiva forget the international users ? Major Dissapointment !! Nope, we didn't forget our friends. we are working on a 220V version it just isn't finished yet. So stay tuned. Thanks Lonnie.. i'll purchase one with the XMC-1, once its available. Two questions: 1. could it handle two XPA-1'S, an XPA-5 and the XMC-1 ? 2. How is it better than other similar products ?

Ok, so it's a tranny, but as long as your getting some hum, why eliminate it? sorry, just couldn't resist that one!

Has anyone received one of these yet? I was thinking of purchasing the 6 but was hoping to read a review or two first.

If your ever in the area, lets plan a ride. There are some great runs around here. Plus it would give my wife a chance to show off the new hard bags on her bike. ;D Maybe it's time for an official Emotiva bikers section? I'm even more interested in visiting Franklin now if there is a chance to get some riding in.

Got my Belkin for similar and it has a lot more than just 2 or 6 outlets. I'm not sure of the market for this product considering what's out there, currently. Still, if Emo makes a profit, more power to them! I have the Belkin but I still can hear a slight buzz from my mains. I figured the Belkin would fix this but nope. So if it didnt could the CMX maybe fix this slight buzz.

Just got an email saying that the CMX-2 has been lowered to just $99, and the CMX-6 is at $119! Plus, if you bought a CMX at the original price, Emo will give you the difference in Emo bucks. That's just awesome. Well done Emo.
