Very considerate of them to do that even though they didn't have to. Classy move.

Has anyone here used these products? I wasn't even interested at the previous high prices, but now it might be worth a look. But before I do, I'm curious how effective these devices are at doing anything beyond being a power strip.

If your amp physically hums or vibrates, then give the CMX a try. All Emotive products have basic noise filtering built in, but they do not remove a DC offset before the large transformer, which can cause hum. Not everyone's 120V circuit has this issue.

A guy who bought a Rythmik sub and had terrible transformer hum (at certain times of the day from some external source (probably the nearby school)) said the hum was reduced by 90% by using one of these.

I hope the OS version can sustain 250vac continuous as our supply varies between 245-260vac. I know this to be the case because my UPS logs the vac and occasionally goes into AVR mode which which drops the line voltage 40vac.

I'm sure it will - 230v is just the standard the input should be but there would always be a +/- tolerance.

Australian standard was 240vac but is now 230vac to bring it into line with Europe. Mostly still 240vac as it is within +10%

I believe the CMX-2/CMX-6 both are designed to handle +/- 20% on the voltage and current specs. As such, you should have no trouble using them with your electrical service.

I hope to have one soon. I've been pouring money into my motorcycle, so I just haven't been able to buy the CMX-2 yet. But when I do, I'll be sure to report on whether or not it fixed my transformer hum.

I'm interested if the cmx6 will be any better than this old monster surge protector I've had.

Hopefully the international version will come with IEC sockets? and perhaps a couple of IEC to IEC cables!

My CMX-2 has shipped. So hopefully on Friday my transformer will be silenced! I got the CMX-2 awhile ago and it did nothing to quite my humming XPA-5. Hopefully you'll have more luck than I did.

Hmmm, that's too bad. Have you tried tightening the bolt on the transformer?

The CMX-2 is not going to cure groundloops; it might reduce their impact, but eliminate....
I believe quite a few have posted the cookbook approach (how-to) to eliminating groundloops - it's a royal pain UNLESS you hit it on the first try.
This is NOT a post against the CMX-2 - it's a fine product from a very fine company.

True, but it's not advertised to eliminate ground loops. We're talking about DC offset on the AC power line, which is known to cause transformers to hum/buzz, and that's what the CMX-2 is supposed to eliminate.

Hmmm, that's too bad. Have you tried tightening the bolt on the transformer? I have not, I'll give it a try. I don't think it's ground loop as none of the other amps in my system hum, the XPA-5 is the one and only culprit of any noise.
