Sure, but there are ground loop defeaters that might do the same job for less than 10 bucks. An expensive solution that few people really need, IMO. I wonder how many people would buy it when they read the scare words on the description without realizing most people really don't need it.

Got my Belkin for similar and it has a lot more than just 2 or 6 outlets. I'm not sure of the market for this product considering what's out there, currently. Still, if Emo makes a profit, more power to them!

garbulky, I can see where you're coming from, but I've tried ground loop isolators/defeaters and they didn't work. They cured the hum in my speakers but not the hum from my XPA-5's tranny. But the CMX is cheaper than the Hum Buster and some other options, and it even matches the Emo amps, so I figure why not give it a shot. It is a little too expensive though imo, so I'll wait for a big sale or buy one used.

You mean the transformer hums due to voltage fluctuations? Does emotiva have a fix for it? If they use the same parts, I would be worried that the CMX-2 might hum doing the same thing! Maybe checking with Lonnie before purchase would be a good idea.

Does the CMX also provide for surge protection?

Does the CMX also provide for surge protection? To a degree. All of our gear has surge protection built in, so if we added additional MOVs to the blocks it could limit the peak rise time of the current. Instead of using MOVs the Common mode chokes and caps (which are used to filter out the noise) will resist the change in voltage which will act as a surge suppressor should it get really high without limiting the dynamic characteristics needed to give the amps what they need.

I appreciate it but my work is nothing is comparison to what you and everyone else who is or has served in the military has done. If your ever in the area, lets plan a ride. There are some great runs around here. Plus it would give my wife a chance to show off the new hard bags on her bike. ;D

All that a sacrificial MOV will do is prevent your gear from going up in smoke but it will still be toast internally.

Best protection is to unplug your gear and hope the bond is good on your house and phone/catv install.
