Thanks to all for their expression of thanks for my note-taking. I honestly just started taking notes for myself to keep track of everything then, well, as usual...I got carried away and LCSeminole and others encouraged me to publish the notes. They also helped keep track of questions you all wanted followed up on, so not only did I get my questions answered but you guys helped me think of questions I had not even thought of. So, thanks to you all for that!
FYI, one more piece of news I forgot...according to what I was told, the "UMC-1 40% discount coupon WILL be applicable to ALL new pre/pros". I missed that in my notes, but the questions above reminded me I had written that down. My notes will be udpated then Judd will create a special sticky just for them so they are easily available for all to reference.
Now, to pack and drive home to Cinci!
See you all...Emofest was GREAT...wish you all had been able to be here!

So why not allow buyers to choose if they want the "techie" interface and the TACT enabled when they buy? Some of us might be OK with a "quirky" interface to start with. Especially if you can control it via computer too. NO...! I'm sure the XMC-1 will have a few un-expected/un-foreseen bugs when it comes out. But let’s just avoid as many as possible at launch to minimize the troll food on this site. To Emotiva, please take your time on the XMC-1. Release it when you think it is good and ready. No sooner.

Whether or not you are a religious person, I'm saying A'men to that ;D Think of some of the things that were said about the UMC-1 on other forums such as AVS and Audioholics. A lot of which were not true, and were said by people who had not even seen a real UMC-1? They would make a laughing stock out of Emo. You might even see the XMC-1 jokes on Jay Leno, Letterman and Fallon. It is better that the XMC-1 arrive late but with solid performance, than in it current incomplete state (to me, if TacT is not working and it is listed as a feature, it is incomplete). Never release a wine before its time ;D

You know, I've waited two years for the XMC-1 and it won't kill me to wait a few more months if that's what it takes to wrap EVERYTHING up. As it stands, my UMC-1 performs without issue in "my" system. So, it's not like I can't get by. Like you, I don't know if "I" could survive another $hit storm of venomous posts by either those who know not what they speak of, or those who are guilty of pushing them to, once again, push an incomplete product to market and then feel "entitled" to complain about all of the bugs. No offense to anyone here intended, but those who still mingle here know who they are... Have I grown weary in the wait?.... Sure, but I know enough about the process to realize that there are many things that need to come together before a product is "complete". Geez, look what's happened to Outlaw. Just think about how the folks who have been waiting for them to release a new processor must feel. At least "we" have a product coming.... Just "my" opinion.....

Emo has proven itself very capable in the hardware/hardware design space. They seem to be teething in software development though, as the issues with the umc and now xmc show. Their model of designing in house and off shoring production is a very proven one in manufacturing, but it just doesn't work for software.
I hope when they say "in house", they mean US, as opposed to contracting development overseas. Blaming TI isn't going to work this go round.

BTW, I don't know if this has been mentioned, but Big Dan told us all that Emotiva owns all aspects of the XMC as well as other products present and future. That means they can pick up and move the manufacturing process to wherever they desire and the U.S.A. is even a possibility.

That doesn't mean much. If they paid anyone to write code, they own the code as work product. They wouldn't own it if they licensed someone else's code or technology (tact).

I just finally had a chance to read through the posts of the past few days and a big thanks goes out to all who contributed both info and pics for those of us who couldn't be there. It's nice to get some updates about some of the long awaited products and see some of the new stuff in development. Maybe I'll make it next year.

It is not that TacT is not working. As stated, the user interface is not (intuitive) user friendly enough for the likes of the majority of those expected to purchase the XMC-1. So, they need to go back to the drawing board and make some changes. Getting that and final testings done might delay the XMC-1 to the 1Q of 2013. So I'm not expecting the bugginess of the UMC-1 release. But I feel that Emo should take the additional time to release the product that was advertised. Not an approximation. I hate it when I can't rebut criticisms of my components.

I am more than happy to buy the XMC-1 now with the knowledge that Emotiva will update the firmware to TACT at a later date. Bring it on I say, the sooner the better! Hopefully a few of you guys on the XMC-1 list that are above me will have 2nd thoughts and decide to wait a bit so I can get mine a lot sooner.
Also thanks everyone for the all the info from Emofest.

Some have mentioned here the XMC-1 could come with a modified version of Emo-Q as a sort of temporary fix until TacT can be released. Is this true or did I simply miss read someone’s post?

If I remember correctly, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, EmoQ was derived from a Cirrus owned (and coded) product. Being that is the case, it will not run on a Texas Instruments DSP (which is used in the XMC-1). EmoQ2 will see its way to both the new UMC-200 and 500 which are still Cirrus based...

Klinemj and others that took the time to post. Can't thank you guys enough for making the effort to fill all the rest of us in. The volume of information that you provided is just awesome. Thank you for thinking enough about the rest of us to take notes and coherently put them out there for the rest of us. I'm sure that it would have been very easy to just enjoy the show. +1 = many thanks to everyone who reported and who posted pics. And even though I was unable to attend, I thank Emotiva for being such a great company to put on an event like this every year. I think the fact that they go to so much trouble and expense for their customers is amazing - it just cements my loyalty to them. As well as empties my wallet. ;D But really, I think what they do is fantastic and I'm hoping they keep doing this so next year I can be there.

TacT works in the XMC-1; they are just changing the interface to make it less complicated for the average user (remember that some people can't work the UMC-1 menus, can you imagine them with the Tact interface?). So why not allow buyers to choose if they want the "techie" interface and the TACT enabled when they buy? Some of us might be OK with a "quirky" interface to start with. Especially if you can control it via computer too. I don't think it's a matter of "quirky"; it's a matter of intuitiveness. Why design two interfaces? The less-intuitive one won't necessarily be quicker to market and only make more work on the staff as the customers who have more money than brains (the ones who couldn't figure out the UMC-1 menus) can't figure out why their room sounds like crap as well as make the more-intuitive interface take twice as long to get to market. I think this is another "lessons learned" from the UMC-1: make it one-button implementation.

So, no offense meant to anyone.

Additionally, someone also mentioned, or perhaps recommended adding a 30 day return option after TacT is eventually released. I have to admit that I like that idea and if implemented, could be that final 'nudge' to be one of the early adaptors when the XMC-1 orders finally go out and my number is eventually called.
