Most certainly. For the members here that were not around during the early days of the UMC-1 launch, and Emotivas follow up responses to everything, I have to say that they went out of their way to make things right for the earliest adopters. First, they extended the 30 day trail period for a very, very long time. Then they gave UMC owners a $100 Emo bucks certificate, and of course, they also received the upgrade card as well. IMO, Emotiva did the right thing (and probably lost a lot of money in the process) to "make things right" for the owners of the UMC-1. Currently, they have them marked down to $500 and it STILL comes with the 40% off card...not too shabby if you ask me. Emotiva's customer service, and their willingness to take care of their customers speaks for its self IMO. Fret not early XMC-1 adopters, Emo has shown time and time again, that they WILL take good care of their customers. Bravo.... This UMC-1 owner was here and lived through all of that. I'm still here because of it.....

This is one reason I'm not concerned about buying the XMC-1 whenever I get that phone call from Franklin. No worries. Better gas mileage on the way home. I wonder why You left your turntable at Emo HQ??!!

Wow! What a fantastic weekend all around. Had a great time at the Fest, got to see some friends and meet some new ones, got a steal on a great birthday present for the wife, won another, spent a good part of the day enjoying said gear, and had time to celebrate her birthday with the kids & grandkids. Thanks again to the Laufmans and the entire Emotiva staff.
But alas, its over and it back to the grind tomorrow. Can't wait till next year. How many days LC?
Happy listening everyone!

Well if you were a well informed Emotiva customer you would have known Emotiva extended the "30" day return time indefinitely when the UMC-1 first came out. The reason for that was Emotiva was working on FW updates to improve the performance of the UMC-1. Thanks to stiehl11 for reminding me of that fact . So even though you might think some of us are from a different planet it is not an outrageous idea . It is not a matter of not trusting Emotiva or a lack of loyalty. But $900 (using the upgrade card) is alot to spend on a prepro that has a feature that might not work to my liking. So if the 30 day return window is well past when the TacT update is offered what options would one have if they do not like the way TacT works? If TacT was fully operational when the XMC-1 was released then one would easily know within 30 days if it was a keeper or not. Bill In case there are some who miss the point of my original post on this thread, It seem like there are those out there always looking to get something for there trouble, in this case having to wait a little longer, even if Emo dont give an extention of 30 days after TacT arrives, I am quite sure they will "Do the right thing" if any customer has a prob. Its a Matter of Trust.

Its a Matter of Trust. Oh God, where is rlw when you need him. I think this is an entirely different circumstance. The UMC-1 had operational problems from the start. It has been posted that the XMC-1 is rock solid and pretty much ready for prime time but the RCS is not. So Big Dan would rather give everyone the option to purchase before Tact is available and offer a download to a USB stick when ready. If the XMC-1s are released without Tact, it is on us if we want to purchase one at that time knowing that Tact is not initially going to be in the unit. So everyone has a choice. Purchase when it is released or purchase when Tact is released or purchase something else. Very simple. This idea of extending the 30 day window to make everyone happy makes me ill. To me this is taking advantage of Big Dan's generosity from the UMC-1 growing pains and trying to apply it to this situation. Lets all try to be men here, please. To me, way too much emphasis is put on a feature, although probably an awesome feature. If the XMC-1 is stellar operational wise upon release and sounds exceptional, then this to me is what we will be buying them for and everything else is a nice bonus.

The complications with releasing without TACT at a lower price and then charging for it comes with the updates later on. You will have to have two sets of updates for a product that's really designed to work as one unit. It adds a whole another layer of complexity simply for a delay.

@vilrock: Everybody will have their own list of "essential features". For me good Room Correction is essential! I have listened to serveral Audessy implementations and I was not blown away by the results. To my hearing Audessy had a negative impact on the detail of the audio. I also heared other RCS solutions from Audiodata and Anthem and their results were very good (partly because you can tweak the results). So personally I'll wait buying a XMC-1 or RMC-1 until Emotiva shows that TACT works in multi-channel mode on a XMC-1 or RMC-1.

It might be even a good thing for Emotiva to sell the XMC-1 first without TACT and later on provide an update to it. Some people will wait buying a XMC-1 until TACT is available and others will buy it immediatly. So sales of the unit are a bit spread across time for Emotiva.

It's good to see everyone is getting back home safely. Regarding the XMC-1 and release without TacT. I am kind of on the fence about this one. I can easily see both sides of the "argument" as being valid. While I have complete faith that Emotiva will take care of everything properly, I feel a bit like it's getting rushed to the market if it doesn't have all the features active and ready to go. If I am not mistaken, it was mentioned that there will still be room correction available in the XMC-1 even without TacT. What is the alternative method, or I am missing something entirely here?
