Most HT products I have bought have been bug free from the get-go, or are fixed on the first firmware revision. As long as they identify the issue and fix it, I don't mind completing the upgrades/updates.

Do a search for lip sinc Oppo bd 103. i think there is a thread about this around here that states that oppo rep's could never recreate the problem and felt that it was a small group of people that probably had their setup wrong. which wouldn't surprise me knowing AVS, try reading through any official TV thread there. a lot of those people are returning every set they buy for some goofy reason or other (it buzzes! it has sparkles! it has light spots on black screens! etc etc ). the point is not every bug is actually a bug. just because something happens in your living room doesn't necessarily mean it's happening in anyone else's.

So if you spent $1-2K on a plasma that had audible buzzing or PQ issues you would keep it? Bill I think you are taking ratso comment out of context. I'm guessing he meant something similar to what I discovered when a friend was terribly upset with a TV he purchased based on my recommendation. My buddy said the TV had an audible hissing sound anything it was powered on. I thought maybe a bad power supply and offered to help him box it up and return it since it wouldn't fit in his car but fit nicely in my truck. My buddy had the hdmi output from his cable box running to his AVR. Then he sent only the video from his AVR to the TV. And sure enough there was a hissing sound coming from the TV. but before we packed up and returned the TV, I discovered he had the volume of the TV maxed out and had not changed the settings within the TV to turn the internal speakers off (for use with external speakers). The speakers on the TV were hissing due to the max volume. I changed the setting, the hissing went away, and he is perfectly happy with the TV. but until I discovered his issue, he had a legitimate "issue" or flaw with his TV. but it turns out it was self inflicted.

I think you are taking suffolk's comment out of context. The post I quoted was from ratso. My take was that ratso was saying that some on the AVS display forums were complaining about issues that might or might not be there. So I asked him a simple question and no I do not think I took ratso's post out of context. Of course many times it can be user error or a setup mistake. I've been looking to buy a Panasonic 60" plasma for over a year. But the numerous reports of Panasonic plasmas having buzzing issues is a cause of concern for me. The reported buzzing is not coming from the speakers but from the rear of the displays. Bill

Yep, it buzzes. I have the highly regarded ST50 55". It's most prominent when it goes to a full white scene and you have the volume on your system on very low or none. Most of the time you can't hear it. But, oh man, what a gorgeous picture it gives.

No problem at all . Yep, it buzzes. I have the highly regarded ST50 55". It's most prominent when it goes to a full white scene and you have the volume on your system on very low or none. Most of the time you can't hear it. But, oh man, what a gorgeous picture it gives. neekos, Thats a bummer . I have been looking to grab a 60" ST50 for the longest time but I know I'll get a buzzer. I just can't understand why Panasonic can not correct this issue . If all I was doing was placing the display on a stand I'd take the chance. But I'll be wall mounting it so if it buzzes it means taking it down and doing the whole return thing. This issue must be costing Panasonic quite a lot of money. I have heard the picture of the ST50s is outstanding. I hope the buzzing on your ST50 goes away (fingers crossed) . Bill

It's certainly not a new problem either. My 4 1/2 year old 800U buzzes too. It's not horrible, but it is annoying late at night when the volume is low.

My 65" ST30 Panny (2011 model series) has an absolutely gorgeous picture, and doesn't audibly 'buzz',...unless I put my ear right up to the back/top of the set, then I can hear a very faint buzz, but nothing you can hear from even a foot away.

sorry, forgot about this thread. the point is just because something happens to you doesn't mean that it happens to everyone. as for avs, one thread i believe had the same guy go through 4 identical plasma tv's because every one of them buzzed. you would think that all the people that own tv stores, review tv's professionally, run av magazines or web sites, etc. would be really up in arms about this buzzing from apparently every plasma on earth. but somehow, strangely, there isn't a huge outcry. just the same small handful of people on one forum that seems to be continuously having this problem. all plasmas have a faint buzz, that is how they operate. mine is not audible in a quiet room if you are more than a foot or so away. i have read threads where people will put up a pure white screen and scour it for any color deviations. this is not a PQ issue, who does that? would i keep a buzzing tv? i would have an authorized repairman come out and find out what the problem is, not cry on a website about it. four defective tv's in a row - to paraphrase bob costas, you must have the worst luck in the world?

^^^ And I was told something different, now what?
This is just getting silly. Not saying who's gonna be right or wrong, but some people are way too emotionally invested in this to think straight.
Anyone who thought the RMC-1 was coming this summer has little common sense...

No don't do that otherwise I might be inclined to wait for the RMC-1 instead of just buying the XMC-1.

Hi everyone,
Also, the XMC-1 will never be "finished". That's the very nature of it's design and system architecture. It is designed to allow the XMC-1 to continuously evolve and improve.
Big Dan Hi All, Have the RMC-1 a modular/ is the RMC-1 upgradable or he is in 3-4 years outdated Thx

Big Dan Hi All, Have the RMC-1 a modular/ is the RMC-1 upgradable or he is in 3-4 years outdated Thx It is a GREAT and interesting question. However, I suspect you probably won't get a full answer to that until such time as the XMC-1 is set to be released. And then a similar design philosophy should also be apparent on the RMC-1. There's no upside to announcing anything. Look what happened to Theta with the Casanova. And remember, Emotiva has the 25% off for life on Pre/pro's program. Based on my general conversation with Big Dan at Emo on the Road, I would say "stay tuned" on this very topic...it's something he's most likely sorting out right now.
