RMC-1

I expect it to be a "supercharged" XMC-1 with the styling of the Reference Series. So, I think once they get the XMC-1 out, they'll quickly crank out the RMC-1. Do I think it will be Summer 2013? No, but maybe let 2013 or early 2014. I hope that the RMC-1 is much more than a "supercharged" XMC-1. I'm hoping it will be more like an XMC-1 and an XSP-1 in a single package with the following features. * XSP analog components fully separated and shielded from all digital components. * Minimal interconnection between XSP and XMC components ** Volume selector and HT passthrough are the only things that come to mind. * 1 or more dedicated analog-only balanced inputs * 1 or more balanced inputs that can be switched between processor and analog input * “Stereo Pure Direct” mode that not only bypasses all digital components but powers them off completely. * All the other goodies from both platforms ;D At the price difference between the XMC-1 and RMC-1 that was suggested at EmoFest, this seems like a reasonable feature set.

There's a nice 4-U space in my rack waiting for it. 5-U will require some rearranging, but doable :-)

The XSP-1 offers a fully balanced differential signal path. The XMC-1 only does balanced connections.
As the (yet unconfirmed) RMC-1 will be based upon a XMC-1 platform (but souped up to 12 channel, most likely 9.3), does this mean there's no chance to sport a fully balanced signal path, be it from the XLR stereo input or from the internal DAC's to the XLR outputs?
Balanced or not, that's the question... I feel if the claim from a certain CTO that the XPR-style pre-pro would hold it's own against anything up to 20K is to be made hard, it should offer fully balanced signal path!
Any thoughts?

Erwin,
I thought the picture of the XMC-1 coming out of EmoFest has the "Differential Reference Media Controller" etched on the front like the XPA-1 has the "Differential Reference Mono-Block Amplifier" on it. I think that means its gonna be balanced all teh way through, no?
If not, then I would expect the RMC-1 to be for sure.

Mmm, dunno... the coming soon product page doesn't show that text anymore. shop.emotiva.com/collections/processors/products/xmc1If the XMC-1 would provide a fully balanced path, then it would present an ever greater bargain as anticipated.

The XMC-1 does have fully balanced for the main speakers only and one input.

I may have it backwards then. I thought the EmoFest photo was more recent than the product info on the product page. I can't keep this all straight.

The XMC-1 has the DSD1793 DAC as the main zone DAC which has differential voltage outputs, why would emo take it back to single ended mode just to recreate it again for the bal outputs? As for the bal stereo in, it should stay balanced all the way(direct mode only).

Hi guys. Let me clear up things a bit. While at Emofest this year, I spoke to both Lonnie and Dan multiple times about the RMC-1. I was told by them that it would be fully balanced throughout, on ALL channels. This is not to say that things could change, but this is what I was told. It just so happens that this was something on my old wishlist.

That is interesting for a couple reasons:
1) The XMC-1 was thought to have excess processing power, for future upgrades and such. I guess it's not enough for the "super" TacT?
2) I am glad to see there is a "super" TacT for the RMC-1. I just hope at some point Emotiva can tell us what the difference is. If the RMC-1 is available in the summer, I can probably get by with what I have until then. I really do not want to cycle through several room correction technologies, and I'd like to just get the very best under $3000 and be done with it (for at least 3-4 years).

This (the RMC) is what I will patiently be waiting for. I wanted to replace my old prepro so I could have HDMI and streaming access, so I picked up an AVR with preouts. I'm sure in a couple of years, the RMC-? (might be RMC #2 by then) will be out as an absolutely smokin' machine to rival the high end manufacturers. The TacT integration should be well developed at that point. Dan Laufman stated the 40 percenters could use their coupons in the future. Purchasers from the UMC-200 forward (without previous coupons to use) join the 25% off for life club. I'm holding on to my early Emotiva MMC-1 receipt for future use. Changing technology will require a new processor / AVR in 2 -3 years anyways.

The options that I believe will drive people to consider an RMC-1 upgrade are: 10+ channels plus at least 2 subs, fully differential signal paths and XLR connectors, support for something as good as Neo:X / Audyssey DSX in terms of channel support and better D-to-A support than any other Emotiva product (including XDA-2 and XMC-1).
One last thing, have an actual customer alpha & beta program before even thinking about putting this product up for general sale. Then only offer it when it has Zero known bugs.

So you are telling us that every other company you bought ht components released perfect 'bug free' products? Do a search for lip sinc Oppo bd 103. Not sure about spelling, but for a blu ray player that cost $500, it sure seems like this issue should have been identified before being released. Not that I am picking on Oppo specifically, but I am trying to point out that Oppo is regarded as copany that produces quality products and they have issues.
