...My gut tells me more treatment is needed!! And your wife tells you? LOL What foam are you using, again? I probably need to get some for behind my TV. I know that lots more of it would help my room too, but for the moment, that won't happen... Just for kicks, would you post a current picture of your room showing the extent of the foam coverage?

Getting some recording in outdoors. Trying out some new Emotiva XLR cables! ( Boomzilla) Verdict, I am a sucker for heavy duty bling! Only critique is that the locking connectors aren't easy to pull out and requires some force. These cables appear to be solidly made or at least heavy and thick looking.

I got to hear the Emotiva T2's! Quick verdict. Dang that sucker has some bass capabilities. But it's also balanced and not just a bass monster. A lot of texture and articulation to the bass. Also, it's a lot smaller than I expected from the photos. It's smaller and lighter than my Axiom m80's. It's basically a mid size tower. I was not expecting four speaker dual 8 inch tower speakers to be diminutive but it is.
Also look, the looks aren't bad! No it won't win awards. But it also doesn't look ugly. However they definitely don't photograph well as you can see from the Emotiva pictures. They do look a lot better in real life.
Did I mention the bass was quite impressive! Flight of the Cosmic hippo. I thought the PSA 3601 sub was engaged. Nope it wasn't. That was all the T2.
Anyway, this speaker has something quite special. It does not sound like the airmotiv 4s and 5s that I heard. So that was a surprise for me. I think it's "breaking in" right now. But so far the impressions were positive. It was able to put female voices in the room quite nicely. There were a lot of "magic moments".
Having said that, this speaker is different from any other speaker I've heard in its presentation. So it's going to take some time to quite get its sound figured out. Whatever it is, I enjoyed my time with it!

I'm wondering if offering the T2 in a couple of different veneers might improve the looks? I know black goes with everything, but it would be cool to have the option to have say a Maple and/or Rosewood option. Is that a good thing or not?

If I were in the speaker market right now, they'd be on my short list. I was so impressed listening to them at Emofest...I listened twice just to make sure. I have always liked their old top of the line towers, but I think these are even better. Mark

Hi dsonyay - He showed me better photos of it last night - The Tascam recorder is tripod mounted, and a "selfie stick" holds his cell phone above the recorder. The cell phone records the video & the Tascam takes in the microphone feeds.

Wow.. your little recording setup looks cool.. id love to see it and how you do a recording.. all I know is hitting record button. Lol Well I really don't know all that much about recording. So for instance I almost never do multi track recordings or crop my recordings or apply effects to them. I had a few goals. 1. It had to be quick, easy to setup, and portable. That was number one right there. Everything else came a pale second. 2. Ability to handle two phantom powered microphones at the same time - preferrably more. 3. Record in stereo. Because I always wanted to record acoustic instruments in a true stereo space. And I definitely wanted to record a piano in stereo. It wasn't easy for me to find the right device. Most required a connection to the computer. Most had four xlr inputs but maxed out with only two phantom power devices. The device I use ticks all my requirements boxes and a bit more. The Tascam DR 70D mk2 1. Once you figure out the settings. I can be up and running anywhere between 5-10 seconds and a minute. The minute would be the time it takes to move the microphone to where you want it. 2. It can actually do four phantom powered microphones at the same time - for two stereo tracks or four mono tracks. Win! 3. Hugely useful - it has individual levels displayed and individual knobs for the four inputs as well as a clipping indicator. 4. It can run on rechargeable batteries. Run out of juice, plug in new AA batteries. 5. Also hugely useful - it has internal stereo microphones that you can use if you don't want to lug around microphones. And they don't sound bad - but not as good as $80 microphones. It has even more tricks like pushing a stereo lineout to a camera so the camera can record it directly on to video. Or a monitoring headphone out. Etc. But I haven't used it. What I can say about it is that the quick and easy has paid off in spades. I think I paid $250 for it or something. It's earned its money back many many fold. Before, with my recording setup, it took about 20-30 minutes just to set it up. Which means that once we did that we were too tired or uninterested in recording. I would do an average of about 2-3 recordings an year. Now with the ultra quick setup I think I've recorded a 100 recordings. So many I can't really keep track of it all. I've been able to record with my wife, my mother in law, my friends and create memories - in hi-res as well - that are priceless. The recordings are definitely amateur and tons of mistakes but so much fun to do. With it I've recorded Ukuleles, accordion, guitar, acoustic bass guitar, cello, viola, violin, trombone, trumpet, tamborines, conga drums, box drum, recorders, Organs, paino, Kalimba (thumb piano), electric bass, fretless bass guitar, school concerts, and soon an acapella chorus. I've recorded indoors, outdoors. A high amount of flexibility. If you play instruments and you just want a quick and easy method, I really recommend it. Only issue I've found with it is that the power switch is flimsy and fell off but it works fine with a paper clip. lol. Having said that: this is what it doesn't do. 1. NO effects except for some very minor things. 2. NO layering tracks. 3. NO cropping tracks. This is not a digital audio workstation.

Wow.. I'd love to see the setup.. maybe hear some recordings. I know nothing about recording aside from using a smartphone.. lol.
The technology is interesting .
I sent you a Tiny Desk video on how the recordings are set up for drums. I found it interesting.
If you do any recording this evening, let me know.. I can drive across the river from Port Allen. Our boat is dockside.
Thanks
David

Today got me thinking about just how strange real life is. It started off the other day as I was at a museum. In front of me was a large rock from an iron metorite. And I touched it. As I touched it, I read that this meteorite was 4 billion years old, almost as old as our sun and had crashed to earth probably about 10,000 years ago. So here I was touching a rock that had travelled for billions of years through deep space. It was formed when no life existed on earth, and as far as we know in the universe. Even better I was touching something that didn't even come from our planet. It travelled through fire as it seared through our atmosphere, its rock melting and searing in the heat until it impacted the earth only to have a human like me touch it, the culmination of intelligent life in the universe (AFAIK). So it started when there was no life and ended billions of years later with intelligent life touching it. Now that was amazing to contemplate. TThe feeling of coming in to contact with alien substance so unimaginably old. The experience was only slightly spoiled by my wife urging me to stop touching the rock because people were looking at me strange . So it got me to thinking about reality - and I realized that we have three very magical things that we take for granted that's part of our day to day life. All of them are not actually real but we experience them anyway., 1. Music. It can take up a room. It can exist in front of you or behind you. It can even come from above you. It can convey color, depth, texture, and feel without having any of it in it. 2. Film: Made high enough it can take you on a journey full of thought and feel very real in 3 dimensions. Yet it doesn't actually exist. It onyl exists as still reflections on a frame. 3. The written word. It can weave you up in tales of stories that exist differently in everybody's head. It can make everybody react differently to it. It can change the world. But the words it imparts don't actually exist but as symbols or markings on a flat piece of paper. So that's the world we live in and I feel that we forget that these commonplace things are miraculous.
