Absolutely correct! My comments are made as my opinion and I make them humbly. Glad you love your XPR-1's as I do. Currently on the table = The Allman Brothers Band Mobile Fidelity Master Recording

Macs in this system that sound much better. They are warmer I suspect that what you call "warmth" I call second order harmonic distortion Cheers Gary

Hello All,
I am very happy with my XPR-1's. If anyone is on the fence about them take the plunge, you won't be disappointed. They sound wonderful and when you want to rock out they have the muscle to keep pace without sounding strained.
My my next upgrade will be a high quality pre amp which I know will open the sound up to a whole new level.....can't wait!!

novisnick,
I am definitely considering the XSP-1 gen 2. I'm also keeping a eye for a used YBA pre amp. Whatever I end up getting I know it will make 2 channel listening much better.

Hey, 30 day loaner man,,,,,,,,can't loose! If it's $35.00 to return IF you don't like it, that's cheap! I don't think you'll send it back.
The XSP-1 gen 2 just does what it does with integrity and quality, it really does excel as a premium pre without the premium price.

I own xpa- 1's. And magtech stereo amp (currently saving cash to upgrade to the mono's)Tremendous value for the money. Very happy with xpa-'1's. Great bass and sound fair at low volume only gripe is midrange and highs are lacking some muddy sounding bass during full on rock n roll at high volume.
For the money emotiva is a stellar value. Better out there sure, but you would have to empty your bank to only get a %10 increase in sound. Sanders has everything else i need in terms of sound. I keep the xpa-1's next to my rack, as well as my magtech in my rack. I go back and forth when in the mood. Theres tons of amps out there, investigate and have fun. This hobby can be expensive, but sure is fun.

I've got XPA-1's and I don't have muddy bass at high volumes, the mids and highs aren't lacking either, my Cambridge Audio 752 is driving them directly and they sound absolutely fantastic, I can't fault them.

Have I missed something? Could you be talking about your speakers and not the amps? When making such broad statements I think it's pertinent to provide a full list of gear and their specifics. Sweeping statements are good for nothing.

My gear is in my sig, I also used to have Jamo C809's (which were more laid back) being driven by the XPA-1's, and still no muddy bass or lacking mids and highs.

Audioquest cables.
Been in this audio game over 32 years, been through every amp, speaker, snake oil merch, pre-amps, Cd players, turntables & cartridges, tonearms , tubes (if i see the letters k or t followed by 88 1 more time im gonna throw up). Ups, downs, you name it , i have demo'd quite a lot of equipment on my time.
Im not saying im an expert, but i have done many years of listening.
I dont think my critique of these are far fetched, or overblown. Just what i hear. Between my brother and i, i deem it safe to say we have auditioned a fair share of brands, large and small companies over the past 30+ Years. Are they a great value for price paid vs sound quality.....sure. Im just being honest.
Dont run me off for my opinion. There is far worse, and far better. Emotiva i would say is a good above average. Working well above its price point. Will they stay in my rig, quite possibly.
As mentioned in this discussion , the sanders magtech, such an effortless sounding, detailed amp. Which is why its still in my rig , as are the xpa-1's. Will the xpa-1's get demoted to 2nd, or 3rd system duty, forcing other equipment to their boxes and shelved, or sold. Who knows. Enjoy the music. Life is short,....experiment , audio is like ice cream, hundreds if not thousand of flavors, try them all if possible, theres always one which is better than the last.

The xpr 1 amps look very nice, looks are so so. Too many lights, bells & whistles. How long is the home trial period? 30 days?
I am saving for the magtech mono upgrade, if the stereo amp sounds this good, the mono's must be krell killers. Basement full of older unused equipment. When time is right, auction blok they will go. Its nice having so much crap available. Several are shut down due to leaky caps, as they have been unused for quite some time. Is this a fun hobby or what ?

I compared XPA1s to Sanders Magtech Monos about a year ago. I can say for sure that the high power of the Sandes amps (1600 watts) was more resolving than the XPA 1s. However not so much so that I wanted to spend 8.2 K more to get it. Now Emotiva is offing nearly the same power at an upgrade price I myself can't refuse. Consequently, I have my pair of XPAs for sale in the Emporium. If anyone is interested, they are just back from Emotiva, clean bill of health all original packaging. I am very much looking forward to my magtech monos. I hear they are great as well.
