1/10/2013 Power outage reported near poodleluvr's location. Yeah, watch those 15 amp circuits, and try not to plug the 2 amps into the same circuit, you may get the circuit tripping if someone turns on something else in that same circuit.

Yeah, watch those 15 amp circuits, and try not to plug the 2 amps into the same circuit, you may get the circuit tripping if someone turns on something else in that same circuit. Actually isn't it normally advised to keep all stereo equipment especially mono blocks connected to the same circuit to keep ground hum issues from occurring?

The thing is, the XPR-1 has a maximum draw of 1500 watts. A 15 amp circuit will trip at around 1800 watts, so if the 2 amps are drawing peaks of 800 watts each and say your tv is on the same living room circuit, at some point you could get nuisance tripping of the breaker.

I agree that for added power you may have to do that, but the idea of you actually using 1500 watts from the wall...I would think would have to be RMS from the amp as wouldn't the capacitance and such take care of quick peaks for you. And If having it on two different circuits does not produce any ground issues then who cares go for the higher power.

But it's not using 1500 watts per amp, only 800, or half of what the amp's full rated power consumption is. That's under RMS power by a lot. And it would add up to 1600 watts for both amps without a single other item operating on the circuit.
Anyway, only way to find out is to fire them up with the theater system on and see what happens.

A belated Poodleluvr Christmas !! -- 01/09/2013 continued... Sweet! I just installed the XPR-5 and the UMC-1 in my current house set, couldn't resist, even if the XPR-5 is for the new house. I disconnected the turntable to make room. The leds only move when I try to rock the house... My daughter is home all day since she has examinations to prepare, so I am holding back the volume...

I think he will be fine. I am running my XPR 2 & 5 on the same dedicated 20 amp circuit. I also have my 2 panamax 5400's running on the same circuit. I have a 60 inch plasma, 2 channel tube preamp, denon 4311, marantz na 7004, denon dbt1713, ps3, directv hd box, cisco switch all plugged into the both panamax which are on the same circuit. The volume knob at -10 did not trip my breaker. As someone noted earlier, these amps have alot of capacitance and for those transient peaks, it will pull from that more than from the wall.
