They're both beautiful, the separates are flexible, but the integrated fits the need for a small simple system that does it all. I also like the idea of a matching CD transport, but really I'd probably hook up an AppleTV or Airport Express and play music from my iPad.

EDIT: OK, I've got one possible feature to throw out for this product. How about a SLEEP function? For an office or bedroom system, I think the SLEEP option would be quite useful. That's one thing I missed from my old system that the Emotiva components don't offer. It's certainly not a big deal and I'd still buy it even without the feature, but that might be a cool thing to have. For that matter, a WAKE timer might be another useful feature to have, but this is adding more complexity and (possibly) cost. I'm just thinking it might even make it more attractive as a "lifestyle" system. Yes, sleep function, wake function, add a digital clock to the face.... You could call it the EmoBoseTiva - World's Best Sounding Alarm Clock. Then emo would have to make a matching digital radio

Big Dan said that they are looking at a whole line of mini components as part of their Executive System. He specifically mentioned matching CD Player and Digital Radio Tuner when he was discussing the introduction. There are many candidates for add-on components to keep expanding the Executive line of Emotiva mini audio products.
Dan has found yet another way to keep us drooling in anticipation of the next toys Emotiva will offer us. I am going to have to hide my credit cards. ;D ;D

My goodness. Just take my money now. I wanted a solution like this from Emotiva for a while as I an using an old HT receiver for my 2.1 channel desktop system. That sub out is much needed as almost all dacs for desktop use omit it. That sub out is one reason I have been keeping my gigantic receiver on my desk. This is the perfect 2.1 desktop solution.
I dig the separates over the integrated solution for the same reasons other have already mentioned above. Seems to compete with Parasound's zstuff, but looks much much MUCH
Although I wouldn't need one, I completely agree with the idea of a CD transport (no dac, transport only) using the same form factor. If Emotiva decides not to add a transport, a Little Dot CDP_I will mate perfectly for those who need cd playback capability.

This is the size and shape of components to market to the victims of headphoneitis!! Yes I have recently become an addict and the costs are killing me. What is needed is a stack of these items - disc transport, radio tuner, phono preamp, class A amp, DAC, multi input pre-amp. Then the consumer can select what they need. It is amazing how much money the headphone crowd will spend on this stuff. Emotiva could really capture a significant bit of business from this market.

Thanks for all the comments and votes guys, this is very helpful.
Just to give you a little more info.
In addition to the USB, digital audio and analog audio inputs, they would also have integrated Bluetooth so you could stream from your phone.
A CD is definitely on the list I just haven't haven't finished the prototype yet.
How important is an AM/FM tuner?
One last thing you should know is the cost.
The separates would run around 500 and the single unit would be around 400. Which is the main reason we wanted to put it out here for you guys to see and vote. To put in quality parts, they seemed a bit pricey, so we wanted to see if it was worth it to our customers.
Thanks and keep the info coming.

Thank you Loniie For 100 dollars in difference I would go for separates. As for the AM-FM tuner, I am not a big listener. I would much rather see a simple internet music streamer. Thanks

I Love the look of the separates and frankly I love the look of the integrated, however, IMO in this class it seems that these items may be placed in a living room or somewhere others will see them so it could be experimentation in having a bunch of interconnects and power cords hovering about. So I guess an integrated with CD would work for me and have a nice blue tooth connection for wireless network play from our music servers and for me that is a home run. Actually as I think about it, with the blue tooth or network server, there may be little need for a CD player or radio...then again I am sure not everyone stores music on a server so bring back the cd.

Spot on. Most people's criticle listening is still going to done on their deticated system. I want something neat, clean, tidy, and simple. A single unit would be ideal. Think bookshelves, work shops, dorm rooms, kitchens, etc. Simple is good. Ditch the XMC-1 project and focus on these little guys.

A DLNA feature will be very useful to be able to stream music from other sources. That means having network capability which also opens up having internet radio.

No need for a tuner here.

^ Ditto.
However, if a tuner is included, let it be an HD tuner, with RDS.

Separates is silly at this level IMHO. I love this NAD machine. Its $499.00 MSRP so Emo price might be $300.00 or so...

I'm still in favor of the separates, both for the look as well as for placement options inside existing furniture/cabinets. This would go up against the small integrateds that are out there, but also includes a DAC. I personally have no use for a tuner. Bluetooth certainly has possibilities though.

With a sleep and an alarm function it will make a perfect bedroom set. Then also include FM and WiFi internet radio. Maybe Apple airplay? CD player I don't need. A single unit will do for me.

My vote is for the integrated. For a secondary system I would rather spend the hundred bucks on speakers.
