Why on earth would you have balanced connections on units that are *designed* to sit within 1 ft. of each other? Geez, I think some of you guys checked your brains at the door when you walked in The Lounge... -RW- Or sit 0" from each other as with the integrated amp.

Listen, you have asked us our opinion. Any chance we could get an idea for a time frame when this might be coming out? I don't mean a date, but a rough idea. Is this something that could make it out in early/late 2013? 2014? Further out? We love to give feedback and I know that some people take it to far, but would love to have an idea.

Yeah, I don't even need a time estimate, just knowing if this project has been given the 'green light' or not would be good for me. Well.......? ;D

WOW! I cannot believe I hadn't seen this until now. I was in search of a compact unit for use in m bedroom system with Swan M1 speakers for awhile. This would have been perfect for that. Unfortunately, I no longer have a system dedicated to my bedroom but if something like this was available I would certainly put the M1s back into my bedroom.
I would take either the complete integrated unit or the separate unit as long as 24/192 Asynchronous USB was used. Also, please lose the computer type power cable. I need a proper IEC 15 power connector.

Great idea. For the same price, separates; would like to see same footprint CD player along with this set! I do find the Reference Series a little bit like the Marantz with the front faceplate as such. I do prefer the look for the majority of the amps, more Emotiva identifiable. Maybe if the EXec system had that Mini-X look, it will be very cool looking i think!
oh... unless you want the reference series system to "play" nicely with the eXec system, or if you are moving AWAY from the "old" look? I hope not.
Great idea with the eXec system.

For a small system like this, I see no reason for full separates. Everything should be built in.
Integrated with a CD player built-in would be perfect, instant seller for bedroom / office use. AM/FM tuner would be great as well.
I don't really think that separates would be necessary, but I can see why some people may not need the amp. Perhaps you could do one with amp, and one without for powered speaker users.
Oh, and make the volume control a knob! I really don't like button volume controls.

Will you use long cable runs for an office system? How are XLRs a need for such a system?

Because some folks apparently don't read previous posts, I will repeat myself:
Why on earth would you have balanced (XLR) connections on units that are *designed* to sit within 1 ft. of each other? Geez, I think some of you guys checked your brains at the door when you walked in The Lounge...

Geez, I think some of you guys checked your brains at the door when you walked in The Lounge... -RW- I think you need to take some psychology and marketing classes. The reason why these units need to have XLR connections is because it gives the impression that somehow it will sound better than a unit that has only RCA connections. It matters not what it actually sounds like, it matters what your brain tells you it WILL sound like.

Oooooh boy. Would love one of these myself, and it would be a great way to get the girlfriend, sibling or parent on the budget hi-fi train. Though if you're looking for an affordable DAC, Schiit has you covered with the Magni or Modi (whichever it is). The matching piece is a headphone amp. But this would be so great for bedroom/office/small-room purposes just to have clean power going to some inexpensive bookshelf speakers.

Are we still "Pipe Dreaming" or has Emotiva commited to this as a product?

Are we still "Pipe Dreaming" or has Emotiva commited to this as a product? I'd like to know too! (Because I've got an older basement 'exec system' that I suspect is on its last legs, but I could nurse it along a while further if I thought an Emo option was 'in the wings' coming relatively soon - say within a year or so?).

If the design hasn't been locked in yet ? Ide offer package deals with airmotivs to lose the power amp for a smaller footprint and also ditch the rather old school matching cd player in lieu of a matching usb hdd filled with audio files . I think convenience comes 1st over a stack of cd's in this case at least . +1 for a powered unswitched ac line on the pre ; very handy .. maybe even for a small powered sub ..

I am very excited about these products! I have a mini-x and this preamp would be a perfect match. If it came with phono input I would be in heaven.

Would make a great desk top unit. I would consider purchasing a set.
