Very moving, I would hope that people on the fence about supporting you could see it in there hearts to find a way to donate, and hearing the issues your daughter faces on a daily basis and have the courage to participate in this worthy cause is a testament of a loving family.
So I would hope people would consider a donation, and on race day stay away from those light poles and surly the cars.

My daughter posted this today on her Facebook page:
"6 years ago I spent a week in the ICU at the hospital, unable to see, speak, or walk and very close to not being here today. 6 years ago today I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Although diabetes is not what anyone wants and the world would be great without it I am so glad I got it, if not i would not have met some of the most amazing people I have ever met. When I was diagnosed I lost friends because people thought I was contagious, and even now people ask me frustrating questions like "do you have the good or bad kind?" "Oh you can't eat this can you.." And "does it hurt when you prick" both types of diabetes are bad, yes we can eat anything we just have to get insulin, and we are only used to it but it doesn't mean we enjoy it. -bemi a type 1 diabetic Maybe 6 years from today there will be a cure. ♥"

Derek Donate and have a chance to win this giveaway package as well as a chance to STOP DIABETES! I know I want them both!!! Good Morning Lounge Members, We need to jumpstart the donations to Derek's ride. The prize will include a Sherbourn PT7030 processor and PA7-150 amplfier. www.sherbourn.com/collections/theater/products/pt7030www.sherbourn.com/collections/theater/products/pa7150Contest ends May 11, 2013. Hey Derek,I can't boost you all the way up to your $10,000 goal. Heck,I can't even offer up a match to the $1,000 that Emo so graciously offered. But I told you last year that I would try to do better this year and that I can at least say I have managed.I just gave you another bump today.
Fellow lounge members,Derek is less than $200 from reaching $5000 raised, can we at least push him over that limit to start with this weekend? Then maybe we can see how close to that $10,000 goal we can get.
Many of you have already made a donation and I am sure that Derek is very appreciative of each and every one of you who have. There are however currently 12,076 members of The Emotiva Lounge. If every one of you gave just a single dollar Derek would blow right past that $10,000 goal.A dollar isn't much to one individual, surely you could spare one dollar?
Now it doesn't have to be just one dollar of course, that was just to prove a point about what could be accomplished if everyone would participate.
US lounge members, don't forget about the Sherbourn Giveaway. If you didn't see it before go to the first post in this thread for info.Basically Emotiva is going to give away a Sherbourn PT7030 processor and a Sherbourn PA-7150 amplifier!!!! All you have to do to have a chance is donate a minimum of $50.Holy cow, what a deal!
I'll let you guys in on a little secret, this deal is for lounge members who gave a minimum of $50.Go look at the donations page and see how many of Derek's contributors are folks who qualify.Pretty short list isn't it?I would say your chances are pretty good, don't you think?
If you can't manage $50 then please give anything you can, even that single $1 that I mentioned, because it is for a great cause and they all add up.But if you can swing the $50+ donation, isn't it worth that to be in the drawing for that great Sherbourn equipment?Especially with such favorable odds?
A big shout out to the Laufmans and Emotiva for all they have done. You guys are great.
Not that much time left folks, don't wait too long.

My daughter is indeed a special girl to be sure. She is truly coming into her own as an ambassador for finding a cure, even in the official sense of the word. She has been asked to be the ADA's "Tour de Cure Youth Ambassador" for this years tour! We don't know quite what that means yet, but we do know she will be somewhat focused on greeting and checking in the other "Red Riders" (Those riding in the tour that are Type-1 diabetics.) And as a up and coming photographer, she will also be taking photos at the Family ride with a focus on the "Red Riders." Thank you all so much for your kind words above and for the assistance with promoting the giveaway. We had an awesome fundraising day a couple weeks back, but it's been very, very quiet since then and I welcome the help. On the other side of the coin, the last thing I want to do is annoy folks with my repeated fundraising efforts, but as dad trying to give his child the life she deserves, I owe it to her and those like her, to do all that I can. I sincerely apologize to those who are tired of seeing this thread, but its the most important thing in my life right now and I am 100% driven to help find a cure. Also, this is my only true "forum" for raising funds. Raising funds thru my family, work and Facebook have all fallen nearly flat, so here I am. :-) Emotiva had mentioned sending out an email to all forum users to alert those who might not be as active on the forum. I hope this happens soon, so we can give everyone a chance at the giveaway and to raise as much as possible for this cause. Thank again guys for your assistance and thank you all for your patience with me. Take care, You are the best! Derek Here's a recent picture from this past weeks Tour Champions Dinner. From left to right, David(One of my past TdC riding friends), my awesome and lovely daughter, me and the incredible and also lovely Katie-Rose(The director of the TdC.)

Aw come on,not one little donation at all this weekend? Derek is less than $200 away from reaching $5000 and we can't even help him hit that mark over the weekend? That is pathetic. For a $50 minimum donation lounge members will be eligible for the Sherbourn giveaway but can't you at least spare a small amount for a worthy cause? To help find a cure for diabetes.$20? $5? Something? There are a bunch of you guys out there who aren't in this at all yet.

Woo Hoo! Over the $5,000 mark. Still lots of lounge members not in for the Sherbourn giveaway though. Have you seen the equipment being given away? Mighty nice. Wouldn't you at least like to have a chance at it? Plus you get to feel good about giving to a worthy cause.

Here's another long shot incentive: If I win the Sherbourn package, I want to keep the amp, but I will hold a drawing among all of those who have given to Derek's ride for the preamp. So if I win, someone else will win too!

I just took a chance that my small donation may help... and help it will! ~A chance at winning gear is bonus... my family has several issues supported by "worthy causes" so I personally know and understand that a "little" can do "a lot". -Bob

Your donation does not need to be a one-time donation of $50 to qualify. You can donate multiple times at smaller increments. As long your donation totals $50, you'll be entered in the drawing.

Your donation does not need to be a one-time donation of $50 to qualify. You can donate multiple times at smaller increments. As long your donation totals $50, you'll be entered in the drawing. There you have it folks. If by chance you made a donation previously that didn't quite get you qualified for the Sherbourn giveaway you don't have to start from scratch to get in,just "top off" your donation with a little more to get you in. Because the fight against Diabetes is the main focus here anything you could give is so very much welcomed and appreciated but if you are able you might as well give yourself a shot at that brand new Sherbourn equipment that has been so graciously donated for the giveaway. Let me remind everyone that the pool of qualified candidates to win the giveaway is pretty darn small right now so your odds are going to be excellent.Much better chances than the lottery. Even if you are not the ultimate winner of the Sherbourn giveaway you still get to be a winner in helping such a worthy cause. Way more of our members have not participated yet than those that have. Can you not at least make a small donation to help out please? The time for the ride draws near so don't wait too long. Thanks everyone.
